  1. 16. On Transfer of Work Material to Tools

    Author : Jannica Heinrichs; Staffan Jacobson; Urban Wiklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Tribology; Friction; Forming; Cutting; Galling; Material transfer; Tribological coatings; Surface finish; Micro mechanisms; Aluminium; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Bulk forming and cutting are widely used to shape metals in industrial production. Bulk forming is characterized by large strains, extensive plastic deformation and large surface expansions. Cutting is characterized by high speeds, high pressures and high temperatures. READ MORE

  2. 17. Designing grinding tools to control and understand fibre release in groundwood pulping

    Author : Magnus Heldin; Urban Wiklund; Birgitta Engberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Groundwood pulping; Grinding mechanisms; Diamond grinding tool; Energy efficiency; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : Mechanical pulping is a very energy demanding process in which only a fraction of the energy is used for the actual separation of wood fibres. The rest of the energy is lost, partly in damaging already separated fibres and partly as heat during viscoelastic deformation of the wood. READ MORE

  3. 18. Friction and Wear Phenomena in Steels at Elevated Temperatures

    Author : Sinuhe Hernandez; Urban Wiklund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Different grades of steels are often exposed to high temperatures whether during their shaping/forming or during their use in several applications. This exposure to high temperature has a great bearing on the resulting friction and wear phenomena in steels due to changes in their surface and near-surface properties. READ MORE

  4. 19. Contact fatigue and crack propagation studies of sintered PM steel

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Åsa Kassman Rudolphi; Urban Wiklund; Johan Ahlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; PM steel; Fatigue; Crack Initiation; Crack Propagation; Material Analysis; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : Gears made of PM steel are of interest for the automotive industry because from the press/sinter route, complex geometries can be produced to near net shape with only a few processing steps while keeping the material and energy usage at a minimum. However, the PM steels of today have significant performance limitations caused by the inherent porosity which impairs the mechanical properties by acting as stress raisers in the material. 5. 20. Cardiac arrhythmias and heart rate variability in familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy : A clinical study before and after liver transplantation

    Author : Rolf Hörnsten; Urban Wiklund; Staffan Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physiology; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Abstract : Familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP), found in the northernmost counties in Sweden, is a rare, lethal and inherited amyloidosis. The disease is caused by mutated transthyretin (TTR). The mutation is characterized by an exchange of valine for methionine at position 30 (ATTRVal30Met). READ MORE
