  1. 1. Optical Properties of Low Dimensional Semiconductor Materials

    Author : Tiantian Han; Ying Fu; Per-Olof Holtz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiconductor; Low dimensional; optics; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a serial study on optical properties of different semiconductor materials. Three main types of studies are addressed: The role of doping levels of N and Al atoms in the room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) of 4H-SiC films for optoelectronic applications; the use of a basic Monte Carlo method combined with probability calculations of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation to manifest multi-photon absorption and emission of II-VI compound quantum dots (QDs) for bioimaging; a theoretical quantum chemistry approach to study of structure and optical properties of InGaAsN and GaAs clusters for laser technology applications. 2. 2. Green Chemical Synthesis of II-VI Semiconductor Quantum Dots

    Author : Robina Shahid; Mamoun Muhammed; Gunnar Westin; KTH; []
    Keywords : Semiconductor; Quantum Dots; Microwave; Ionic Liquids; Green Chemical Syntheis; Quantum Confinement; Optical Properties;

    Abstract : Nanotechnology is the science and technology of manipulating materials at atomic and molecular scale with properties different from bulk. Semiconductor QDs are important class of nanomaterials with unique physical and chemical properties owing to the quantum confinement effect. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plasma assisted low temperature semiconductor wafer bonding

    Author : Donato Pasquariello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Wafer Bonding; Oxygen Plasma; InP; Si; Semiconductor; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Direct semiconductor wafer bonding has emerged as a technology to meet the demand foradditional flexibility in materials integration. The applications are found in microelectronics, optoelectronics and micromechanics. For instance, wafer bonding is used to produce silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. READ MORE

  4. 4. Correlated Electronic Structure of Materials : Development and Application of Dynamical Mean Field Theory

    Author : Patrik Thunström; Olle Eriksson; Alexander Lichtenstein; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DFT; DMFT; correlation; entanglement; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to the development, implementation and application of a combination of Density Functional Theory and Dynamical Mean Field Theory. The resulting program is shown through several examples to be a powerful and flexible tool for calculating the electronic structure of strongly correlated materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optical properties of novel semiconductor nanostructures

    Author : Stanislav Filippov; Irina Buyanova; Weimin Chen; Galia Pozina; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanostructures, such as one-dimensional nanowires (NWs) and zerodimensional quantum dots (QDs), have recently gained increasing interest due to their unique physical properties that are found attractive for a wide variety of applications ranging from gas sensing and spintronics to optoelectronics and photonics. Here, especially promising are nanostructures based on compound semiconductors, including ZnO, GaNP and GaAs/InAs. READ MORE
