  1. 11. Valuing Reductions in the Risk of Traffic Accidents Based on Empirical Studies in Sweden

    Author : Ulf Persson; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Säkerhetsteknik; Safety technology; Vägtransportteknik; Road transport technology; Road Traffic; Risk Reduction; Value of Life; Cost of Accidents; Stated Preference; Contingent Valuation;

    Abstract : At the beginning of the 1990s the Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) adopted the willingness to pay (WTP) approach for estimating the benefits of safety improvements. However, since then there have been discussions about how to find the most valid and reliable empirical methods to conduct WTP studies. READ MORE

  2. 12. Passenger assessments of quality in local public transport- measurement, variability and planning implications

    Author : Helena Sjöstrand; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; passenger; public transport; quality; survey; Stated Preference; assessment; assignment; planning; Transportteknik; Transport technology; Road transport technology; Vägtransportteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to get a more detailed basis for planning of local public transport. With more knowledge of how segments of travellers assess different parts of a journey, bus routes can be planned to fit either all passengers or selected groups better. READ MORE

  3. 13. On the Relations between Driving Patterns, Exhaust Emissions and Network Characteristics in Urban Driving

    Author : Lena Smidfelt-Rosqvist; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traffic calming; intersections; driving adaptation; speed limits; Road transport technology; driving behaviour; Vägtransportteknik; overall effects; trip-long; non-local effects;

    Abstract : The planning and design of street networks in cities influence driving behaviour and give rise to variations in driving patterns (i.e., speed and acceleration profiles) that affect exhaust emissions and fuel consumption. READ MORE

  4. 14. The Public Transport Preferences of Elderly People; A study related to individual capacity and environmental stress in service route traffic and other systems

    Author : Helena Svensson; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; walking distance; valuation; standard factors; conjoint analysis; stated preference method; trunk routes; special transport; service routes; restrictions; physical capacity; preferences; travellers; public transport; elderly people; traffic planning; Road transport technology; Vägtransportteknik;

    Abstract : Providing accessible, acceptable and appreciated public transport for elderly people is essential. This work studies the relation between elderly people’s preferences of standard factors in different public transport systems, and their physical capacity. READ MORE

  5. 15. Effects of Safety Measures for Pedestrians and Cyclists at Crossing Facilities on Arterial Roads

    Author : Mohsen Towliat; Institutionen för teknik och samhälle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transport technology; arterial roads; interaction points; Keywords: traffic safety; pedestrian and cyclist safety; conflict study; behavioural study; experimental site; control site; physical measure; evaluation design; variable message sign; pedestrian and cycle crossing; speed measurement.; 30 50 road environment; Transportteknik; Road transport technology; Vägtransportteknik;

    Abstract : The principal aims of this thesis are to define suitable measures for safer pedestrian and cycle crossings on arterial roads, to implement these measures on a large scale and to acquire an insight into their effects on road users' safety, experiences, mobility and the environment, by creating a 30 km/h milieu at the above crossings. Two characteristically different types of measures, physical measures and variable message signs, based on three principles, lower speed, no priority and improved and relevant information, are tested within the framework of this project.
