  1. 6. Towards Immunotherapy of Midgut Carcinoid Tumors

    Author : Sofia Vikman; Thomas Tötterman; Valeria Giandomenico; Bengt Widegren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunology; midgut carcinoid; gene expression; immunotherapy; tumor antigen; VMAT-1; T cell; HLA-A*0201-binding peptide; IFNγ; regulatory T cell; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Classical midgut carcinoids belong to neuroendocrine tumors of the gastroenteropancreatic tract (GEP-NETs) and are associated with serotonin overproduction. The term midgut is derived from the tumors’ embryological site of origin: enterochromaffin cells in the lower jejunum, ileum, caecum and the ascending colon. READ MORE

  2. 7. Vesicle proteins as markers for neuroendocrine tumors

    Author : Anne-Marie Levin Jakobsen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Neuroendocrine tumours; gastrointestinal tract; pancreas; adrenal; vesicle proteins; ; SV2; NESP55; VMAT1; VMAT2; MIBG;

    Abstract : The neuroendocrine (NE) tumours comprise a diversity of tumours which share commonproperties, e.g. the capacity to produce, store and release hormones. A prominent feature ofthe NE phenotype is the production of secretory granules with associated vescicle proteins,e. READ MORE

  3. 8. Evaluation of absorbed dose uncertainty in modulated radiotherapy plans

    Author : Julia Götstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The purpose of this work was to develop and evaluate methods to meet the challenges of quality control (QC) for modulated radiotherapy plans. It was shown that nine of 15 intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plans, with deliberately introduced dose errors larger than 5% in at least one evaluated dose volume histogram (DVH) metric, were not detected with a QC method which combined Delta4 (ScandiDos) measurements and internationally recommended criteria for evaluation (Paper I). 4. 9. The Serotonin Transporter and the Vesicular Monoamine Transporters During Development

    Author : Stefan R Hansson; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; whiskers; lateral geniculate; infraorbital nerve; neural crest; merkel; somatosensory cortex; Key wordscitalopram; thalamus; visual cortex; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Abstract : In the present study, the mRNA encoding the serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and two isoforms of the vesicular monoamine transporters (VMAT1 and VMAT2) have been mapped in the rat throughout gestation and early postnatal development using in situ hybridization, RT PCR and immunohistochemistry. 5-HTT mRNA was found in serotonergic neurons and VMAT2 mRNA in all monoaminergic neurons from early gestation. 5. 10. 3D Verification of Dynamic and Breathing Adapted Radiotherapy using Polymer Gel Dosimetry

    Author : Sofie Ceberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiotherapy; 3D verification; polymer gel;

    Abstract : Polymer gel dosimetry has been used since the 1990s, and several studies have shown that this detector system can be used for verification of static absorbed dose distributions in three dimensions (3D). Its unique properties, such as high resolution, normal tissue equivalence and independency of energy, field size and direction of the incident radiation, should also be advantageous for dosimetric verification of radiotherapy using today’s and tomorrow’s dynamic delivery techniques.
