  1. 1. Epitaxial growth of semiconductor nanowires

    Author : Ann Persson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; materialteknik; nanowires; nanostructures; growth mechanism; Materiallära; Material technology; Halvledarfysik; Semiconductory physics; nanoelectronics; Au; VSS; VLS; surface diffusion; band gap engineering; InP; ternary system; GaAs; heterostructures; InAs; CBE; epitaxy;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the results obtained from investigations carried out on epitaxially grown III-V semiconductor nanowires aimed at improving our understanding of and knowledge on the growth mechanism of nanowires. This is important to be able to control their growth, in order to make future applications possible. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterisation of III-V semiconductor nanowires by in-situ transmission electron microscopy

    Author : Magnus Larsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; STM-TEM; semiconductor; STM; nanowires; VSS mechanism; Electron microscopy;

  3. 3. Clinical pharmacokinetics of intravenous ethanol : relationship between the ethanol space and total body water

    Author : Åke Norberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Introduction: Total body water (TBW) is an important parameter in pathological states where the normal regulation of fluid balance is impaired (e.g., during critical illness, congestive heart failure, bum injury and renal insufficiency). READ MORE

  4. 4. Physics of blood flow in arteries and its relation to intra-luminal thrombus and atherosclerosis

    Author : Jacopo Biasetti; T. Christian Gasser; Danny Bluestein; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Vascular pathologies such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and atherosclerosis are complex vascular diseases involving biological, mechanical, and fluid-dynamical factors. This thesis follows a multidisciplinary approach and presents an integrated fluid-chemical theory of ILT growth and analyzes the shear-induced migration of red blood cells (RBCs) in large arteries with respect to hypoxia and its possible role in atherosclerosis. 5. 5. SBR-technology - use and potential applications for treatment of cold wastewater

    Author : Stig Morling; Elzbieta Plaza; Jörgen Hanaeus; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intermittent operation; Water temperature; nitrogen; phosphorus; SBR; reaction rates; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Biological nutrient removal is used as an indicator of SBR performance at nine different SBRplants operated for a long period at low water temperatures (5 – 10oC). Typically needed aeratedSRT (Solids Residence Time) for complete nitrification is found to be in the range of 6 – 10 days. READ MORE
