  1. 1. Mass and Heat Transport in Dryer Fabrics - Experiments and Modelling

    Author : Simon Smrtnik; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transport; dryer fabric design; fabric parameters; mass transport; condensation;

    Abstract : A dryer fabric is used in the multi-cylinder dryer in order to improve the runnability of the web and to establish proper contact between the web and the hot cylinder, thus improving the heat transport. The dryer fabric separates the hot and moist paper from the ambient drying air and significantly influences the mass and heat transport. READ MORE

  2. 2. Alternative methods for analysing moisture transport in buildings : Utilisation of tracer gas and natural stable isotopes

    Author : Kjartan Gudmundsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tracer gas; water vapour permeability; diffusion; surface diffusion; isotopic analysis; deuterium; oxygen-18; fractionation; vapour barrier; transient numerical modelling of diffusion; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : New methods, based on tracer gas measurements and isotopicanalysis can be used to evaluate the moisture properties ofbuilding materials and provide the means for forensic analysisof the origins and history of excessive water in buildings, theimmediate practical consequences of which will be the abilityto improve the moisture performance of constructions. It is shown, in theory and through measurements how thewater vapour permeability of porous building materials can witha good degree of accuracy be estimated with tracer gasmeasurements that provide an efficient alternative to the cupmethod. 3. 3. Observations of water vapour in the middle atmosphere

    Author : Stefan Lossow; Jörg Gumbel; Jacek Stegman; Daniel R. Marsh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water vapour; mesosphere; stratosphere; dynamics; Odin satellite; limb sounding; microwave; tropics; polar winter; Meteorology; Meteorologi; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : Water vapour is the most important greenhouse gas and plays a fundamental role in the climate system and for the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere. This thesis presents observations of water vapour in the middle atmosphere with a particular focus on the mesosphere. READ MORE

  4. 4. Seasonality and variability of stratospheric water vapour

    Author : Tongmei Wang; Abdel Hannachi; Qiong Zhang; Alexey Karpechko; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratospheric water vapour; seasonality; variability; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : Stratospheric water vapour (SWV) plays a critical role in the climate system by modulating the radiation budget and influencing the stratospheric chemistry. Studying changes of SWV on global scale is helpful for our understanding of climate change. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical simulations of the isotopic composition of stratospheric water vapour and methane

    Author : Martin Ridal; Cornelius Schiller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : The middle atmosphere is an important area of the Earth's atmosphere, but our understanding of the dynamical and chemical processes in that region is still limited. Water vapour and methane both fulfil the requirements for tracers due to their long lifetimes and have frequently been used to study dynamical processes. READ MORE
