  1. 11. Statistical Inference of Tangency Portfolio in Small and Large Dimension

    Author : Stanislas Muhinyuza; Taras Bodnar; Dietrich von Rosen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tangency portfolio; Mean-variance portfolio; High-dimensional asymptotics; Test theory; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers statistical test theory in portfolio theory. It analyses the asymptotic behavior of the considered tests in the high-dimensional setting, meaning k/n → c ∈ (0, ∞) as n → ∞, where k and n are portfolio size and sample size, respectively. READ MORE

  2. 12. Advanced Spectral Analysis with Applications

    Author : Niclas Sandgren; Peter Stoica; Thomas L. Marzetta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frequency-selective spectral analysis; damped sinusoidal model; prior knowledge; multichannel spectroscopy; phantom experimental data; in-vivo in-vitro data analysis; area-selective analysis; cepstrum thresholding; total-variance reduction; two-dimensional spectral estimation; spectral smoothing; irregular sampling; CARMA signals; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Spectral analysis has advanced the last decades as a signal processing tool to extract significant information about certain properties of measured data. The practical use of spectral analysis techniques in time-series analysis has been emphasized in the immense amount of previous literature in the field and by a rapidly growing number of applications. 3. 13. DNA Analysis of PCR-Inhibitory Forensic Samples

    Author : Johannes Hedman; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amylase; statistical modelling; principal components analysis; PCR inhibitors; PCR inhibition; forensic DNA analysis; DNA polymerase blend; DNA polymerase; crime scene samples;

    Abstract : DNA evidence, linking perpetrators to crime scenes, is central to many legal proceedings. However, crime scene samples often contain extraneous substances that may interfere with the PCR-based forensic analysis, resulting in partial or negative DNA profiles. Extensive DNA purification may remove inhibitors, but involves the risk of DNA loss. READ MORE

  4. 14. Imaging diffusional variance by MRI [public] : The role of tensor-valued diffusion encoding and tissue heterogeneity

    Author : Filip Szczepankiewicz; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Diffusion MRI provides a non-invasive probe of tissue microstructure. We recently proposed a novel method for diffusion-weighted imaging, so-called q-space trajectory encoding, that facilitates tensor-valued diffusion encoding. READ MORE

  5. 15. Family studies of schizophrenia and pregnancy outcomes

    Author : Anna Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Alternating logistic regression; environment; familial aggregation; fertility; generalized estimating equations; genes; obstetric complications; preterm birth; siblings; schizophrenia; small for gestational age; variance components;

    Abstract : Why do psychiatric diseases run in families? Why do some women tend to have similar obstetric complications in subsequent pregnancies? The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate how genes and environments contribute to the aggregation of schizophrenia and adverse pregnancy outcomes in some families. Further, we also studied the fertility in families of patients with schizophrenia. READ MORE
