  1. 16. Rope Hadronization, Geometry and Particle Production in pp and pA Collisions

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics

    Author : Christian Bierlich; [2016-12]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QCD; Phenomenology; Hadronization; Heavy ion collisions; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Bierlich;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns models of high energy collisions of sub-atomic particles, and the models’ implementation in numerical simulations; so–called Monte Carlo event generators. The models put forth in the thesis improves the description of soft collisions of protons, and takes the first steps towards a new, microscopic description of collectivity in proton collisions and collisions of heavy nuclei such as lead. 2. 17. Breastfeeding of preterm infants. Associated factors in infants, mothers, and clinical practice

    University dissertation from Department of Health Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Ragnhild Måstrup; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Breastfeeding has even more pronounced health benefits for preterm infants than for full-term infants, but preterm infants are less breastfed. There is no consensus in Danish neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) about which clinical methods facilitate breastfeeding. READ MORE

  3. 18. Gene Therapy for Neurological Disorders

    University dissertation from Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Author : Jan Tönnesen; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epileptiform activity; striatum; organotypic culture; electrophysiology; Wnt5a; synaptic connectivity.; cell transplantation; hippocampus; neural stem cells; epilepsy; functional integration; Parkinson’s disease; optogenetics; Gene therapy;

    Abstract : Gene therapy is an attractive strategy for neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy, for several reasons. Introduction of genes with a therapeutic potential can be achieved locally, by accurate injections in the compromised tissue, and release of a transgene therapeutic substance can be regulated by the surrounding host neural circuitry. Abstract : Converting wood into paper is a complex process involving many different stages, one of which is pulping. Pulping involves liberating the wood fibres from each other, which can be done either chemically or mechanically. READ MORE

  5. 20. Metapopulation ecology of Osmoderma eremita - dispersal, habitat quality and habitat history

    University dissertation from Jonas Hedin

    Author : Jonas Hedin; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; extinction debt; habitat history; habitat quality; pheromone; telemetry; capture-mark-recapture; metapopulation; dispersal; oak; Osmoderma eremita; beetle; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Abstract : This thesis starts with a review of different biodiversity assessment methods in forests and the rest deals with the metapopulation ecology of Osmoderma eremita, a threatened beetle living in hollow trees. I concentrate on the effect of dispersal, habitat quality and habitat history for the presence, population size and future survival of this species. READ MORE
