1. Long-term performance of poly(vinyl chloride) cables : mechanical and electrical performances and the effect of plasticizer migration
Abstract : Cables insulated with plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) were aged at temperatures between 80 and 180 °C in air and their conditions were assessed by indenter modulus measurements, tensile testing, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC). Electrical testing of oven-aged cable samples was performed in order to relate the electrical functionality during a high-energy line break accident to the mechanical properties and to establish a lifetime criterion. 2. Hydrogels of Poly(vinyl alcohol) and Nanocellulose for Ophthalmic Applications : Synthesis, Characterization, Biocompatibility and Drug Delivery Studies
Abstract : Hydrogels are commonly used materials in ophthalmic care as contact lenses, bandage lenses, corneal implants, and cornea regeneration scaffolds. Hydrogels can be produced by physical, chemical, or radiation crosslinking of hydrophilic polymers. READ MORE

3. Asymmetric Hydrogenations of Imines, Vinyl Fluorides, Enol Phosphinates and Other Alkenes Using N,P-Ligated Iridium Complexes
Abstract : The research described in this thesis is directed toward the efficient, enantioselective synthesis of chiral products that have useful functionality. This goal was pursued through catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, a reaction class that selectively introduces one or two stereocenters into a molecule in an atom-efficient step. READ MORE

4. Diffusion in Poly(vinyl alcohol) and Polyethylene as Determined by Computational Simulations and Modeling
Abstract : Poly(vinyl alcohol) and polyethylene polymer systems werebuilt in order to study their transport properties (diffusion).First a verification of the AMBER force field was conducted fora poly(vinyl alcohol) system built from a chain with 145repeating units. NPT-molecular dynamics simulations attemperatures between 400 and 527 K were performed. READ MORE
