  1. 11. Low and Medium Level Vision Using Channel Representations

    Author : Per-Erik Forssén; Gösta Granlund; Jim Little; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis introduces and explores a new type of representation for low and medium level vision operations called channel representation. The channel representation is a more general way to represent information than e.g. as numerical values, since it allows incorporation of uncertainty, and simultaneous representation of several hypotheses. 2. 12. Focus of attention and gaze control for robot vision

    Author : Carl-Johan Westelius; Hans Knutsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with focus of attention control in active vision systems. A framework for hierarchical gaze control in a robot vision system is presented, and an implementation for a simulated robot is described. READ MORE

  3. 13. A Rational Exergy Management Model to Curb CO2 Emissions in the Exergy-Aware Built Environments of the Future

    Author : Siir Kilkis; Folke Björk; Bahram Moshfegh; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Exergy; CO2 emissions; built environment; buildings; energy system; scenario-based analysis; mitigation strategies; net-zero; LEED; energy transition; transition management; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : This thesis puts forth the means of a strategic approach to address a persistent problem in the energy system and in this way, to transition the built environment to a future state that is more exergy-aware to curb CO2 emissions. Such a vision is made possible by the six-fold contributions of the research work: I) An analytical model is developed, which for the first time, formulates the CO2 emissions that are compounded in the energy system as a function of the systematic failures to match the supply and demand of exergy. 4. 14. Managing trafic safety : an approach to the evaluation of new vehicle safety systems

    Author : Anders Lie; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Road traffic crashes are killing more than one million road users per year, worldwide. Preventive measures to decrease this number are warranted. Relevant measures can be to introduce systematic road traffic safety management and to improve the safety pro- perties of components in the road transport system. READ MORE

  5. 15. Advancing Traffic Safety : An evaluation of speed limits, vehicle-bicycle interactions, and I2V systems

    Author : Ary Pezo Silvano; Haris Koutsopoulos; Haneen Farah; Karl-Lennart Bång; Alfonso Montella; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Traffic safety; urban roads; posted speed limits; road characteristics; free-flow speed; time headway; vehicle-bicycle interactions; logit model; yielding probability; cooperative systems and warning messages.; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Since the introduction of motor vehicles, the number of fatalities and accidents has been a concern for society.The number of fatalities on roads is amongst the most common causes of mortality worldwide (WHO, 2015).Even in industrialized countries the number of fatalities remains unacceptable.
