  1. 11. Progression in Glaucoma

    Author : Hanna Maria Öhnell; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glaucoma; visual fields; perimetry; diagnosis; progression; Optical Coherence Tomography OCT ; optic disc photography;

    Abstract : The treatment of glaucoma is focused on reducing the intraocular pressure to a level at which progression is impeded. A diagnosis of glaucoma is not considered certain until progression is confirmed, and thus detecting progression is a central aspect in both the diagnosing and the monitoring of glaucoma patients. 2. 12. Neural limits of visual resolution

    Author : Zoran Popovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cell separation; cortical magnification; detection; estimated receptive field; high-pass filtered optotypes; nyquist limit; psychophysics; resolution; ganglion cells;

    Abstract : Aims: The aim of this thesis was to formulate a model of retinal neural circuitry in humans based on morphological estimates of retinal cone and ganglion cell populations, to compare results based on this model to psychophysical measurements of visual resolution and identify the retinal neural factors that limit visual resolution.Materials & Methods: Total displacement of central ganglion cells from foveal cones was obtained by estimating the length of fibers of Henle in four human retinas along the nasal or vertical hemi-meridians. 3. 13. Deep Learning Assisted Visual Odometry

    Author : Jiexiong Tang; Patric Jensfelt; Davison Andrew; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The capabilities to autonomously explore and interact with the environmenthas always been a greatly demanded capability for robots. Varioussensor based SLAM methods were investigated and served for this purposein the past decades. READ MORE

  4. 14. Bird Vision: Spatial acuity and colour discrimination in bright and dim light

    Author : Olle Lind; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal vision; Visual ecology; Colour vision; Spatial acuity; Spatial contrast sensitivity; Dim light; Visual modelling; Behavioural experiments; Birds; Psittaciformes;

    Abstract : Birds use vision to guide navigation, foraging and mate choice, and studies of the limitations in bird visual perception are most helpful for the understanding of bird ecology. Here, I present four studies of bird vision in bright and dim light. READ MORE

  5. 15. A New Model for Assessment of Change in Visual Function in Diabetes

    Author : Karl-Johan Hellgren; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetic retinopathy; visual function; perimetry;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to determine whether perimetry using a new model to interpret deterioration or improvement in the visual field can be employed to assess change in visual function over time in diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy has long been considered a microvascular disease, but it is still a matter of debate to what extent diabetes also affects retinal neurons. READ MORE
