1. Medium Voltage Generation System with Five-level NPC Converters for Kite Tidal Power
Abstract : Offshore power generation has emerged as a prominent source of energy and the installed capacity of new plants has been steadily increasing in recent years. Tidal power specifically is a promising renewable energy source which has not been highly exploited yet, despite its distinctive advantages of being predictable and independent of weather conditions. 2. Inverter Design for SiC-based Electric Drive Systems with Optimal Redundant States Control of Space Vector Modulation
Abstract : The need for inverters with ever increasing power density and efficiency has recently become the driving factor for research in various fields. Increasing the operating voltage of the whole drive system and utilizing newly developed SiC power switches can contribute towards this goal. READ MORE

3. On Modeling and Optimal Control of Modular Batteries: Thermal and State-of-Charge Balancing
Abstract : There has in recent years been an increasing interest in battery-powered electrified vehicles (xEVs) to reduce carbon footprint of transportation and the dependence on fossil fuels. Since the battery pack of xEVs is one of the most expensive but a key component in the powertrain, the battery lifetime is an important factor for the success of xEVs. READ MORE

4. Runtime Management of Multiprocessor Systems for Fault Tolerance, Energy Efficiency and Load Balancing
Abstract : Efficiency of modern multiprocessor systems is hurt by unpredictable events: aging causes permanent faults that disable components; application spawnings and terminations taking place at arbitrary times, affect energy proportionality, causing energy waste; load imbalances reduce resource utilization, penalizing performance. This thesis demonstrates how runtime management can mitigate the negative effects of unpredictable events, making decisions guided by a combination of static information known in advance and parameters that only become known at runtime. 5. On Optimization Based Control of Distributed Energy Resources in Power Systems: Electricity Markets and Voltage Regulation Perspectives
Abstract : Distributed energy resources are increasingly being integrated into power systems around the world. These resources, typically connected at the distribution system level, are already changing the pattern of power flow from being unidirectional to multidirectional. READ MORE
