  1. 1. Voltage Stabilizers: From Design to Synthesis, Processing and Electrical Characterization

    Author : Markus Jarvid; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyethylene; Degradation; XLPE; Electrical treeing; Voltage stabilizer; Cable; Insulation;

    Abstract : Voltage stabilizers are additives capable of inhibiting electrical treeing; a degradation mechanism for insulation materials subjected to strong divergent electric fields. The intended use is in cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) high voltage power cable insulation where minute defects in the manufacturing process can give rise to the conditions needed for the initiation of treeing, which in the worst case scenario leads to failure of the insulation system with blackouts and expensive repairs as a consequence. 2. 2. Methods for Synchrophasor-Based Power SystemInstability Detection and HVDC Control

    Author : Rujiroj Leelaruji; Luigi Vanfretti; Jean Mahseredjian; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wide-Area Monitoring Protection and Control Systems; Synchrophasor applications; Wide-Area Voltage Instability Detection; Wide-Area EarlyWarning Systems; Automatic Voltage Stabilizer;

    Abstract : The recent availability Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) functionalities in relay technology has opened up new opportunities for power system protection, allowing this microprocessor-based technology to be used beyond traditional protection purposes. This technology now also considers the computation and communication mechanisms that allow the transmission of synchronized phasor measurements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Applying the Pump and Leak Hypothesis. An experimental and theoretical investigation of the principles of ion regulation and excitability in the crustacean stretch receptor neuron

    Author : Sten Theander; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; lobster; stretch receptor neuron; leak current; Q-current; K-Cl cotransporter; A-current; mathematical model; excitability; GABA channel; neurophysiology; ion regulation; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : An invertebrate nerve cell preparation, the lobster stretch receptor neuron, was investigated with respect to maintenance of its resting voltage, intracellular ion concentrations and excitability using voltage clamp technique and ion-selective microelectrodes. It was found that the resting voltage (-65 mV) of microelectrode impaled cells is caused by (a) a homogenous population of K+ channels which we denoted as leak channels (b) an electrogenic and voltage-dependent Na-K pump current and (c) an inward microelectrode-induced "impalement" current carried mainly by Na+. 4. 4. Stabilizers in crosslinked polydimethylsiloxane

    Author : Kamyar Fateh-Alavi; KTH; []
    Keywords : Polymer; Material Science; Polydimethylsiloxane; Stabilizers;

    Abstract : The loss and recovery of the surface hydrophobicity areimportant phenomena when highvoltage insulators, with a shedmaterial composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), are used. Theloss of hydrophobicity is mostly due to the oxidativecrosslinking which takes place on the PDMS surface duringexposure to electrical discharges, e. g. corona discharges. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aluminium oxide - poly(ethylene-co-butylacrylate) nanocomposites : synthesis, structure, transport properties and long-term performance

    Author : Patricia Nordell; Ulf Gedde; Lars Wågberg; Minna Hakkarainen; KTH; []
    Keywords : nanocomposite; nanoparticles; aluminium oxide; poly ethylene-co-butyl acrylate ; silanization; dispersion; Irganox 1010; antioxidant; OIT; sorption kinetics; water; nanokomposit; nanopartiklar; aluminium oxid; poly eten-co-butyl akrylat ; silanisering; dispergering; Irganox 1010; antioxidant; OIT; vattenupptag.;

    Abstract : Polymer nanocomposites are promising materials for dielectrical use in high voltage applications and insulations. This work presents a study of nanocomposites based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) with two different comonomer compositions and two different aluminium oxide nanoparticles. READ MORE
