  1. 1. Interfacial Phenomena in Two-Phase systems: Emulsions and slag Foaming

    Author : Abha Kapilashrami; Seshadri Seetharaman; Bridget Harris; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; film formation; o w emulsion; substrate effect; slag forming; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : In the present work studies were performed to provide understanding for further model development of the two-phase phenomena, film formation from o/w emulsions and slag foaming.The drying of o/w emulsions of different oil viscosities on hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates was studied. 2. 2. Formulation and characterization of W/O nano-dispersions for bioactive delivery applications

    Author : Maria D. Chatzidaki; Aris Xenakis; Bert van Bavel; Werner Kunz; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nano-dispersions; encapsulation; food; DLS; EPR; Cryo-TEM; SAXS; pH-stat; digestion; antioxidants; gastric lipase; pancreatic lipase; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main objective of this study was the formulation of food-grade water-in-oil (W/O) nano-dispersions based mainly on medium or long-chain triglycerides. Two types of dispersions were formulated and structurally compared, namely emulsions and microemulsions. READ MORE

  3. 3. NMR Self-Diffusion Studies and Stability Studies of Emulsions

    Author : Ingrid Lönnqvist; LTH Ingenjörshögskolan vid Campus Helsingborg; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coalescence; emulsion stability; size distribution; restricted diffusion; self-diffusion coefficient; self-diffusion PGSE NMR; surfactant; emulsifier; continuous phase; microemulsion; phase diagram; emulsion; multiple emulsion; cream; conductivity; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this study is to characterize emulsion systems by self-diffusion PGSE NMR methods. The specifics of the emulsions studied are all taken from the literature and they are of the W/O or O/W type stabilized with different emulsifiers. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization

    Author : Carolina Costa; Magnus Norgren; Håkan Edlund; Orlando Rojas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 5. 5. Waterborne Alkyd-Acrylic Hybrids with High Solids Content -Preparation and Properties-

    Author : Mehrnoush Jowkar Deriss; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biopolymers; Polymer technology; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the preparation, characterization and film formation of a waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid system with high solids content of about 80 %. The alkyd-acrylic hybrids were prepared by slowly adding a linseed oil alkyd to an acrylic latex dispersion under stirring. READ MORE
