  1. 1. WIMP searches in an Effective Field Theory Framework from XENON1T to XENONnT

    Author : Vasile Cristian Antochi; Conrad Jan; Alfredo Davide Ferella; Samuel Silverstein; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; WIMP; Dark Matter; EFT; Chiral EFT; Direct Detection; PMT testing; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Observations from cosmology and astronomy suggest that most of the matter in the Universe is comprised of dark matter. In this thesis the evidence for dark matter and the possible candidates are explored, focusing on the Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) hypothesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Indirect Searches for Dark Matter in the Milky Way with IceCube-DeepCore

    Author : Martin Wolf; Chad Finley; Maurizio Spurio; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark Matter Annihilation; WIMP; Milky Way; IceCube Neutrino Observatory; DeepCore; neutrino; particle physics; high-energy physics; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Many astronomical observations, including rotational curve measurements of stars and the analysis of the cosmic microwave background, suggest the existence of an invisible matter density content in the Universe, commonly called Dark Matter (DM). Possibly, DM could be of particle nature, where Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) could be a viable DM candidate. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dark Matter in the Galactic Halo : A Search Using Neutrino Induced Cascades in the DeepCore Extension of IceCube

    Author : Henric Taavola; Olga Botner; Allan Hallgren; Carlos Perez de los Heros; Jodi Cooley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dark matter; WIMP; neutralino; MSSM; neutrino telescope; IceCube; DeepCore; Galactic halo; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : A search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) annihilating in the dark matter halo of the Milky Way was performed, using data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and its low-energy extension DeepCore. The data were collected during one year between 2011 to 2012 corresponding to 329.1 days of detector livetime. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Search for Dark Matter in the Sun with AMANDA and IceCube

    Author : Olle Engdegård; Olga Botner; Allan Hallgren; Jodi Cooley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; WIMP; neutralino; MSSM; Kaluza-Klein; IceCube; AMANDA; neutrino telescope; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : A search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) annihilating in the Sun was performed with the IceCube and AMANDA neutrino telescopes, using data from 2008 corresponding to 149 days of livetime. Assuming that particles in the dark matter halo scatter and accumulate in the centre of the Sun, Majorana WIMPs may pair-wise annihilate and give rise to a neutrino signal detectable in an experiment at Earth. 5. 5. Search for low mass WIMPs with the AMANDA neutrino telescope

    Author : Anna Davour; Olga Botner; Carlos de los Heros; Mark Pearce; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; dark matter; WIMP; neutrino detection; AMANDA; supersymmetry; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : Recent measurements show that dark matter makes up at least one fifth of the total energy density of the Universe. The nature of the dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries in current particle physics and cosmology. READ MORE
