  1. 1. Quantitative equilibrium calculations on systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting

    Author : Bo Björkman; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Assessment of silicate systems; model for liquid silicates; lead silicates; iron silicates; cuprous silicates; quantitative equi¬librium calculations; emf measurements; Gibbs free energy; cup¬rous sulphide; dicalcium ferrite; wüstite-calcia solid solution; copper smelting and converting;

    Abstract : The present thesis gives a summary of results obtained through theoretical and experimental studies of systems with relevance to copper smelting and converting.Many chemical elements are involved in the copper production processes and a detailed experimental study would be very time- consuming and expensive. 2. 2. Interactions between iron oxides and the additives quartzite, calcite and olivine in magnetite-based pellets

    Author : Pär Semberg; Lawrence Hooey; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : In the present study, magnetite pellets with large amounts of the additives olivine, calcite and quartzite were isothermally reduced in a tubular furnace to study the interaction between iron oxides and the additives. A first attempt at using exaggerated amounts of additives was made in order to enable analyses of phases that do not otherwise occur in sufficient amounts for Xray diffraction and EDS-analyses. 4. 4. Mineral Reactions and Slag Formation During Reduction of Olivine Blast Furnace Pellets

    Author : Elin Ryösä; Hans Annersten; Kyösti Heinänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olivine; iron ore pellets; blast furnace; reduction; alkali; coating; slag formation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The present work focuses on mineral reactions and slag formation of LKAB olivine iron ore pellets (MPBO) subjected to reducing conditions in the LKAB experimental blast furnace (EBF). The emphasis is on olivine reactions with surrounding iron oxides. Many factors influence the olivine behaviour. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development and Characterisation of Oxygen-Carrier Materials for Chemical-Looping Combustion

    Author : Paul In-Young Cho; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxygen carrier; defluidization; CO2 separation; carbon dioxide capture; carbon formation; chemical-looping combustion;

    Abstract : For combustion with CO2 capture, chemical-looping combustion (CLC) with inherent separation of CO2 is a promising technology. Two interconnected fluidized beds are used as reactors. In the fuel reactor, a gaseous fuel is oxidized by an oxygen carrier, e.g. READ MORE
