  1. 1. Pyrolysis and Detoxification of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for Feedstock Recycling

    Author : Panagiotis Evangelopoulos; Weihong Yang; Efthymios Kantarelis; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pyrolysis; WEEE; solvent extraction; brominated flame retardants; Tetrabromobisphenol A; Auger reactor; Πυρόλυση; ΑΗΗΕ; εκχύλιση με διαλύτη; βρωμιωμένα επιβραδυντικά φλόγας; Τετραβρωμοδιφαινόλη Α; Pyrolys; WEEE; lösningsmedelsextraktion; bromerade flamskyddsmedel; tetrabrombisfenol A; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The trends in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generation shows that their volume constantly increases, while the current waste management technologies have proven to be insufficient in order to meet the strict criteria and the new legislations of the European Union. Pyrolysis and thermal treatment in general could be a valuable solution for closing the loop of materials and could contribute to the energy demands of modern society. READ MORE

  2. 2. Electronic Waste Plastics Characterisation and Recycling by Melt-processing

    Author : Erik Stenvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; melt-blending; WEEE; ternary polymer blend; processing conditions; plastics recycling; composition analysis; e-waste;

    Abstract : Melt-processing of blended plastics from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is a method to facilitate mechanical recycling, and this might improve the recycling conditions and increase the amounts of plastics being recycled. To ensure the quality of melt-blended plastic waste, it is essential to know the composition of the incoming material and then possibly improve the compatibility between the different polymer phases. Abstract : This work concerns a waste electrical and electronic equipment blend of recycled plastics (WEEEBR), reprocessed from a low density thermoplastics batch (600 kg) by removal of non-thermoplastic contamination (1.2 weight % (wt%)). READ MORE

  4. 4. Upgrading of fine residual electronic waste by microwave pyrolysis - Material Influence

    Author : Mattias Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dielectric properties of waste; recycling; Microwave pyrolysis; WEEE; Waste electrical and electronics equipment;

    Abstract : The large and increasing volumes of waste electrical and electronics equipment (WEEE) in society today make it important to collect and recycle these materials to as high extent as reasonable. Conventional recycling methods are based on mechanical treatments such as shredding, sorting and separation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Advancing the Frontier of Extended Producer Responsibility: The management of waste electrical and electronic equipment in non-OECD countries

    Author : Panate Manomaivibool; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Extended Producer Responsibility EPR ; Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment WEEE ; Electronic Waste E-waste ; Policy Transfer; Waste Policy; Product Policy; Recycling;

    Abstract : Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) has become a salient issue in non-OECD countries. With a growing awareness about serious damages to the environment and human health from a lack of safe treatment and recycling of WEEE, there has been a search for policy responses in several of these countries.
