  1. 1. Mixed fuels composed of household waste and waste wood : Characterization, combustion behaviour and potential emissions

    Author : Mar Edo Giménez; Stina Jansson; Jonas Dahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MSW; RDF; persistent organic pollutants; PCDD; PCDF; solid waste pre-treatment; torrefaction; food waste; contaminated wood;

    Abstract :    Incineration with energy recovery is the main disposal strategy for waste that cannot be reused or recycled, and a well-established source of energy in Europe, especially in Sweden where 2.2 Mtonnes of waste including domestic and imported municipal solid waste (MSW) and waste wood (WW) were combusted during 2015. 2. 2. Acid-catalyzed Liquefaction of Industrial Side-streams for Producing Wood Adhesives and Particleboard

    Author : Wen Jiang; Stergios Adamopoulos; Sheikh Ali Ahmed; Sergej Medved; Carsten Mai; Johannes Konnerth; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Bark; Catalysts; Industrial side-streams; Liquefaction; Oat husks; Optimization; Particleboards; Polyurethane; Polyhydric alcohols; Wood adhesives; Wood sawdust; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : Big quantities of residues and side-streams are generated annually from forest-based and agricultural industries all around the world and present a relatively unexplored renewable resource. Due to the absence of a regularly updated and systematic database of supply, industrial residues and side-streams usually end up in landfill disposal, are used for energy generation, or remain at the production sites. 3. 3. Contamination in Swedich waste wood : environmental implications, sources and waste management strategies

    Author : Joakim Krook; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Today, bulk materials, e.g. wood, plastic, steel, and concrete, are contaminated by hazardous substances such as heavy metals, causing environmental and resource problems during waste management. READ MORE

  4. 4. Co-firing animal waste, sludge, residue wood, peat and forest fuels in a 50MWth CFB boiler : ash transformation, availability and process improvements

    Abstract : The direct variable costs for heat and electricity production based on solid biomass fuel combustion is approximately 3-5 times lower than the costs in a fossil fuel-oil based boiler in Sweden. In addition waste derived biomass fuels are typically much cheaper than biomass not classified as waste. READ MORE

    Abstract : Denna avhandling behandlar rökgasutsläpp av persistenta organiska föroreningar, framförallt dioxiner, vid förbränning av fasta biobränslen och torrt hushållsavfall i relativt små anläggningar (5-600 kW) utan avancerad rökgasreningsteknik.Samförbränning av avfall och biobränsle i effektiva mindre biobränslepannor testades som en alternativ strategi till den vanligen förekommande storskaliga hanteringen och förbränningen fast hushållsavfall.
