  1. 11. Methods of Measuring Radioactivity in the Environment

    Author : Mats Isaksson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radioactivity; soil sampling; depth distribution; nuclear weapons fallout; Chernobyl; sewage sludge; deposition; Ekologi; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Isaksson; Ecology; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Cs-137;

    Abstract : In this thesis a variety of sampling methods have been utilised to assess the amount of deposited activity, mainly of Cs-137, from the Chernobyl accident and from the nuclear weapons tests. Starting with the Chernobyl accident in 1986 sampling of air and rain was used to determine the composition and amount of radioactive debris from this accident, brought to southern Sweden by the weather systems. 2. 12. Nutrient economy in annual and perennial crops : comparisons between and within crop species in a sustainability context

    Author : Fereshteh Pourazari; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of agricultural crops is related to crop nitrogen (N) uptake and thereby the amount of N that is removed from agro-ecosystems through crop harvest. As the N removal through harvest is linked to the fertilization requirements and the risk of N leaching, the crop NUE is an important aspect of sustainability in agriculture. READ MORE

  3. 13. Large grazing birds and crop damage : investigating spatial and temporal patterns to guide management practices

    Author : Teresa Montras Janer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Populations of geese, swans and cranes (i.e., large grazing birds) are increasing in Europe and North America, raising conflicts between conservation and farming interests when, foraging in agricultural fields (often in the vicinity of wetlands), cause yield loss for farmers. Abstract : This thesis has three self-contained articles.Economic growth and trade in human capital: A salient empirical pattern in the East Asian “miracle” is a large increase in output and factor accumulation despite  only a modest increase in TFP. I develop and calibrate a model of growth and catch-up to provide a possible explanation. READ MORE

  5. 15. Phased array calibration and beamforming using signal processing
