  1. 1. fMRI for mapping the plastic somatotopy of primary somatosensory cortex - Development and clinical applications

    Author : Andreas Weibull; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; smoothing; physiological noise; spatial resolution; primary somatosensory cortex; cortical reorganisation; brain plasticity; fMRI; partial volume effects;

    Abstract : Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a widely used tool for studying brain function in vivo. The technique is based on acquiring brain images sensitive to the physiological response following neural activation, and hence, allows brain activity to be examined and documented. READ MORE

  2. 2. Survivorship in Hodgkin lymphoma : childbearing and treatment-related disease

    Author : Caroline E Weibull; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cancer is often considered a disease with, historically, poor survival that affects middle-aged and elderly individuals. Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a lymphatic malignancy that affects both young and old individuals, with the age-specific incidence curve having its first peak at ages 20-30 years. READ MORE

  3. 3. Miniaturised Microwell-based Cell Assays

    Author : Emilie Weibull; Helene Andersson Svahn; Albert van den Berg; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microwell; miniaturisation; high-resolution imaging; high-throughput; cell culture; single-cell; clone; heterogeneity; antibiotic susceptibility testing; concentration gradient; interfacing; microchannels; cell retrieval;

    Abstract : Cell heterogeneity in genetically identical cell populations is becoming a well-known and important phenomenon in cell biology. Current methods commonly utilise population-based analysis founded on averaged result. Hence there is a need for high-throughput cell assays on the single-cell level. READ MORE

  4. 4. Emotion matters : Emotion management in Swedish Peace Support Operations

    Author : Louise Weibull; Jan Karlsson; Eva Haldén; Lars Dahlgren; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Peace Support Operations; emotion management; low-intensity conflict areas; Sweden; Working Life Science; Arbetsvetenskap; Statsvetenskap med inriktning mot strategi och säkerhetspolitik;

    Abstract : The thesis makes an overall contribution to the qualitative research on soldiers’ experiences from service primarily in low-intensity mission areas, this operational environment being placed within a framework of emotion sociology. The central argument put forward states that even on this type of mission the emotional demands are considerable, and that the need for emotional management in Peace Support Operations (PSO) should therefore generally follow other demarcations than the formal military divisions of high and low intensity conflicts respectively. 5. 5. Modelling the Variability of Bending Strength in Structural Timber - Length and Load Configuration Effects

    Author : Tord Isaksson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; code; reliability-based design; Weibull; test standard; load configuration effect; length effect; weak section; machine grading; visual grading; variability; Structural timber; bending strength; simulation; monte carlo simulation.; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The load carrying capacity of a beam of structural timber is dependent both on the span of the beam and the type of loading. The longer the beam and the more uniform the moment distribution, the lower the load carrying capacity. This phenomenon is due to the variability of material properties within a piece of timber.
