  1. 1. Sustainable valorization of Biomass into Syngas/H2 via Biocarbon catalyst

    Author : Hanmin Yang; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Linda Sandström; Chunfei Wu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pyrolysis; Catalytic upgrading; Biomass; Biochar; Syngas; Hydrogen; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Environmental issues stemming from the rapid growth in global energy demand and carbon dioxide emissions require urgent resolutions. Biomass represents a viable alternative for displacing fossil fuels, as its energy can be converted into electricity, heat, fuels, and chemical precursors, thus substituting petrochemicals. 2. 2. Mild Wet Torrefaction and Characterization of Woody Biomass from Mozambique for Thermal Applications

    Author : Carlos Alberto Cuvilas; Weihong Weihong Yang; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; Wet torrefaction; Fast Pyrolysis; kinetics; Catalyst;

    Abstract : Mozambique has vast forestry resources and also considerable biomass waste material such as bagasse, rice husks, sawdust, coconut husks and shells, cashew nut shell and lump charcoal waste. The potential of the total residues from the agricultural sector and the forest industry is estimated to be approximately 13 PJ. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of pyrolysis and gasification of biomass from the self-organization perspective

    Author : Aliaksandr Alevanau; Ersson Mikael; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Sylwester Kalisz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pyrolisys; pellets; hydrogen; gasification; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the analysis of kinetics of i) low-temperature pyrolysis of gaseous hydrocarbons, ii) high-temperature steam gasification of char of wood pellets (>700oC), iii) high temperature pyrolysis of straw pellets in an atmosphere of argon and steam, and iv) high temperature pyrolysis of slices of transversally cut wooden sticks. The results of the kinetic measurements in the high-temperature cases are approximated using a least-square based optimization software, which was specially developed to analyse kinetics prone for deviation from the Arrhenius law. 4. 4. Study of the Apparent Kinetics of Biomass Gasification Using High-Temperature Steam

    Author : Aliaksandr Alevanau; Weihong Yang; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; Anna Ponzio; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high temperature gasification; random pore model; grain model; volumetric model; TGA; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : Among the latest achievements in gasification technology, one may list the development of a method to preheat gasification agents using switched ceramic honey combs. The best output from this technology is achieved with use of water steam as a gasification agent, which is heated up to 1600 °C. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thermochemical behavior of pretreated biomass

    Author : Amit Kumar Biswas; Weihong Yang; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; Henrik Kusar; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; Pretreatment; therochemical conversion; pyrolysis; combustion; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Mankind has to provide a sustainable alternative to its energy related problems. Bioenergy is considered as one of the potential renewable energy resources and as a result bioenergy market is also expected to grow dramatically in future. However, logistic issues are of serious concern while considering biomass as an alternative to fossil fuel. READ MORE
