  1. 6. Laser welding of aluminium alloys

    Author : Tomas Forsman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This thesis treats laser welding of aluminium alloys from a practical perspective with elements of mathematical analysis. The theoretical work has in all cases been verified experimentally. The aluminium alloys studied are from the 5xxx and 6xxx groups which are common for example in the automotive industry. READ MORE

  2. 7. Microstructural manipulation by laser irradiation of prepared samples : The ’Snapshot Method’

    Author : Stephanie Robertson; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; Fredrik Sikström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : Various metallurgical microstructures and their formation are studied in this thesis by using a laser beam to melt a variety of materials with different chemical compositions over a range of thermal cycles. The laser beam was used conventionally in a narrow gap multi-layer weld, used for welding large depths with filler wire additions, as well as a non-traditional simulated welding approach labelled here as the Snapshot method. 3. 8. On the Characterization and Generation of Flow Marks on Polymeric Surfaces

    Author : Giovanna Iannuzzi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tiger stripes; surface defects; rheological properties; injection moulding; polymer processing; flow marks;

    Abstract : Polymer-based materials are widely used in the automotive industry for producing vehicle parts, for instance car bumpers, dash boards etc. A common manufacturing process for such components is injection moulding. READ MORE

  4. 9. Monitoring and control of laser beam butt joint welding

    Author : Morgan Nilsen; Anna-Karin Christiansson; Fredrik Sikström; Michael Schmidt; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser beam welding; Optical sensors; Joint tracking; Varying gap; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Laser beam welding is one important technology in automated production. It has several advantages, such as the ability to produce deep and narrow welds giving limited heat induced deformations. The laser beam welding process is however sensitive to how the high power laser is positioned with regards to the joint position. READ MORE

  5. 10. An inductive gap measurement method for square butt joints

    Author : Edvard Svenman; Anna-Karin Christiansson; Anna Runnemalm; Johan Carlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Eddy current; Seam tracking; Measurement; Laser beam welding; gap geometry; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : A recent method in aero engine production is to fabricate components from smaller pieces, rather than machining them from large castings. This has made laser beam welding popular, offering high precision with low heat input and distortion, but also high productivity. READ MORE
