  1. 16. Process chain simulation of forming, welding and heat treatment of Alloy 718

    Author : Joachim Steffenburg-Nordenström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Lars-Erik Lindgren; Fredrik Niklasson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forming; Welding; Stress relieve annealing; Heat treatment; Finite Element Simulation; Manufacturing process chain; Alloy 718; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Manufacturing of aero engine components requires attention to residual stress and final shape of the product in order to meet high quality product standards.This sets very high demands on involved manufacturing steps to meet design requirements. READ MORE

  2. 17. Hybrid laser-MIG welding : an investigation of geometrical considerations

    Author : Marc Wouters; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a collection of theoretical and experimental investigations into various geometrical aspects of hybrid laser-MIG welding. The work is divided up into four parts; A review of the hybrid laser-MIG welding technique with brief summaries of the three papers which make up the remainder of the thesis. READ MORE

  3. 18. Weld Cracking of Precipitation Hardening Ni-based Superalloys - Investigation of repair welding characteristics and susceptibility towards strain age cracking

    Author : Fabian Hanning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gleeble; Haynes 282; Waspaloy; welding; ATI 718Plus®; weldability; post-weld heat treatment; weld cracking; strain age cracking; hot cracking; Nickel-based superalloys;

    Abstract : High temperature resistance and strength requirements make nickel-based superalloys the material of choice for the hot section of aero engines. Fabrication in terms of combining wrought and cast parts in the manufacturing of hot structural components enables component optimisation via the use of wrought high-strength parts, where geometrical constraints allow, and cast parts to produce complex geometries. 4. 19. Laser welding and cladding : the effects of defects on fatigue behaviour

    Author : Md. Minhaj Alam; Stewart Williams; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on weld defects in laser processed materials (for laser welding, laser hybrid arc welding and laser cladding) and their effect on the fatigue life of components. Component properties were studied with particular emphasis on the macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and clad defects. READ MORE

  5. 20. Investigation and modelling of friction stir welded copper canisters

    Author : Therese Källgren; Rolf Sandström; Hannu Hänninen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Friction Stir Welding FSW ; Copper; Welding; Finite Element Method FEM ; SKB; Material flow; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This work has been focused on characterisation of FSW joints, and modelling of the process, both analytically and numerically. The Swedish model for final deposit of nuclear fuel waste is based on copper canisters as a corrosion barrier with an inner pressure holding insert of cast iron. READ MORE
