  1. 1. Hydrology of riparian wetlands : a methodology study in carbo wetlands, Uruguay

    Author : Alejandro Arcelus; KTH; []
    Keywords : Large basin wetlands; Hydrological modelling; Hydraulic modelling; Runoff; Wetland classification; Uruguay; Cebollati river;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 2. Mosquitoes as a Part of Wetland Biodiversity

    Author : Martina Schäfer; Jacob Höglund; Jan Lundström; Darold Batzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; diversity patterns; species assemblages; functional groups; constructed wetlands; dytiscids; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Abstract : Wetlands contain both aquatic and terrestrial environments which generates high biodiversity. However, they are commonly associated with mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae), and mosquitoes are usually regarded as negative by humans because they can cause nuisance and transmit diseases. READ MORE

  3. 3. Images from unmanned aircraft systems for surveying aquatic and riparian vegetation

    Author : Eva Husson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Aquatic and riparian vegetation in lakes, streams, and wetlands has important ecological and regulatory functions and should be monitored to detect ecosystem changes. Field surveys are often tedious and in countries with numerous lakes and streams a nationwide assessment is difficult to achieve. READ MORE

  4. 4. Monitoring biodiversity in cultural landscapes: development of remote sensing- and GIS-based methods

    Author : Jonas Dalmayne; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : Remote sensing; statistical modeling; spatial scales; partial least squares; support vector machines; grazed grasslands; LULC; HySpex; Worldview-2; Landsat; heterogeneity; landscape complexity; plant species diversity;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I explore the relationships between structural and compositional landscape properties, and species diversity, using remotely sensed data on a variety of spatial scales. The thesis shows that increased landscape heterogeneity, measured using environmental and spectral variables that were used both separately and combined, is generally positively related to plant species richness.
