1. White Spot Syndrome Virus Interaction with a Freshwater Crayfish
Abstract : Viruses are very abundant in water and hence diseases caused by viruses are common in marine organisms. These diseases create great problems for the commercial farming of crustaceans and mussels. READ MORE

2. Parasite on Crayfish : Characterisation of Their Pathogenesis, Host Interactions and Diversity
Abstract : The crayfish plague refractory crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus, which can harbour the fungal parasite within melanotic sheath, are found to constitutively express the gene encoding for prophenoloxidase (proPO) after mimicking parasite attack. In contrast, the susceptible crayfish, Astacus astacus, responds to the parasite by increased levels of proPO transcript, particularly in the semigranular haemocytes. READ MORE

3. Functional Studies of Some Immune Relevant Genes in a Crustacean
Abstract : The freshwater crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus, mounts a strong innate immune response against microbes such as viruses and bacteria. In this thesis, a novel RNA interference (RNAi) method mediated with histone H2A was developed and applied in crayfish hematopoietic tissue cell cultures for gene functional studies. READ MORE

4. Interaction between crayfish and some microorganisms; Effect of temperature
Abstract : Innate immunity, which constitutes the first line of defense in vertebrates, is the only immune system that invertebrates rely on to protect themselves from pathogens. The invertebrate immune system is composed of cellular and humoral components. Cellular immunity is phagocytosis, opsonization and encapsulation. READ MORE
