1. Baseband Processing for 5G and Beyond: Algorithms, VLSI Architectures, and Co-design
Abstract : In recent years the number of connected devices and the demand for high data-rates have been significantly increased. This enormous growth is more pronounced by the introduction of the Internet of things (IoT) in which several devices are interconnected to exchange data for various applications like smart homes and smart cities. 2. Finite-Length Scaling Laws for Spatially-Coupled LDPC Codes
Abstract : This thesis concerns predicting the finite-length error-correcting performance of spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) code ensembles over the binary erasure channel. SC-LDPC codes are a very powerful class of codes; their use in practical communication systems, however, requires the system designer to specify a considerable number of code and decoder parameters, all of which affect both the code’s error-correcting capability and the system’s memory, energy, and latency requirements. 3. Structures of String Matching and Data Compression
Abstract : This doctoral dissertation presents a range of results concerning efficient algorithms and data structures for string processing, including several schemes contributing to sequential data compression. It comprises both theoretic results and practical implementations. READ MORE

4. Error-Correcting Codes Based on Chaotic Dynamical Systems
Abstract : This dissertation treats a novel class of error-correcting codes based on chaotic dynamical systems. The codes are defined over a continuous alphabet whereas the information that is to be transmitted belongs to a discrete set of symbols. Simple expressions can be given for the encoders, and the codewords can be described by a parity-check relation. READ MORE

5. Interference Rejection and Channel Detection in Mobile Communication
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to statistical problems in mobile communication, in particular disturbance rejection and change detection are studied. Co-channel interference is a significant problem for systems based on TDMA, e.g. EDGE. READ MORE
