  1. 6. Wnt/β-catenin Signaling and Epigenetic Deregulation in Breast Cancer and Parathyroid Tumours

    Author : Jessica Svedlund; Gunnar Westin; Göran Åkerström; Peyman Björklund; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wnt signaling; parathyroid; epigenetic; Medicin; Medicine; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is often deregulated in cancer. Here we investigate Wnt/β-catenin signaling, aberrant accumulation of β-catenin, and epigenetic deregulation in breast cancer and parathyroid tumours. READ MORE

  2. 7. Aniridia-related keratopathy : structural changes, signaling pathways and clinical aspects

    Author : André Vicente; Fatima Pedrosa Domellöf; Berit Byström; Luis Abegão Pinto; Jing-Xia Liu; Anders Ivarsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aniridia; aniridia-related keratopathy; PAX6; keratoplasty; fetal cornea; Notch1; Wnt; sonic hedgehog; mTOR; keratocyte; oftalmiatrik; ophthalmology;

    Abstract : Aniridia is a congenital autosomal dominant, bilateral, panocular condition, caused by haploinsufficiency of the Pax6 transcription factor. Aniridia-related keratopathy (ARK) significantly affects vision and quality of life in these patients. READ MORE

  3. 8. Wnt signaling and metaphyseal bone healing

    Author : Fredrik Agholme; Per Aspenberg; Lars Nordsletten; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis relates to some new aspects on the regulation of bone healing. In the last few years, Wnt-signaling has been shown to play a central role in bone biology. As well as being involved in bone maintenance and repair, Wnt-signaling has been presented as one of the key pathways through which bone responds to mechanical load. READ MORE

  4. 9. Gene and protein expression in denervated atrophic and hypertrophic skeletal muscle

    Author : Marlene Norrby; Sven Tågerud; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skeletal muscle; Denervation; Hypertrophy; Atrophy; Gene expression; Protein expression; Protein phosphorylation; NIFK; Wnt; MK2; Akt signaling;

    Abstract : Following denervation skeletal muscles change their functional and structural properties. Some changes resemble conditions in developing muscles and may be important for reinnervation. Due to inactivity following denervation most skeletal muscles loose muscle mass and become atrophic. READ MORE

  5. 10. Expression and novel function of CD43 in colon cancer cells

    Author : Christian X Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : CD43; leukosialin; sialophorin; mucin; nuclear localization; nuclear signaling; Wnt-signaling; beta-catenin; regulated intramembrane cleavage; RIP; proteolytic cleavage;

    Abstract : CD43 is a transmembrane protein containing an extracellular domain that is extensively O-glycosylated, and a relatively large intracellular domain with a conserved sequence between human, rat and mouse. It is frequently expressed in haematopoietic cell lines where it functions as a regulator of cell adhesiveness, a signal transducer and a cytoskeleton-interacting protein. READ MORE
