  1. 16. Structural Studies Of Materials Using Time-Resolved X-ray Diffraction

    Author : Hengameh Allaf Navirian; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; structure of bulk crystal; x-ray diffraction; phase transition; mechanical properties; microscopy;

    Abstract : This work consisted of the application of X-ray diffraction methods to the study of ultrafast phenomena in various materials. Since the X-ray pulses generated from the bending magnet at the MAX II ring, where most of the experimental work was conducted, have a duration of the order of 300 ps, they can not be used directly as probe pulses in experiments where higher temporal resolution is required. 2. 17. Time-resolved X-ray diffraction studies of phonons and phase transitions

    Author : Ola Synnergren; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics; Phase transitions; X-ray diffraction; Phonons; X-ray diffraction;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes work in which time-resolved X-ray diffraction has been used to probe crystalline materials, thereby revealing the dynamics of phonons and phase transitions. X-ray diffraction is the standard tool in investigations of structure on the atomic scale. READ MORE

  3. 18. Generation and Applications of Short-Pulse X-ray Radiation

    Author : Michael Harbst; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; crystallography; phase equilibria; Material science; Condensed matter:stucture; thermal and mechanical properties; time-resolved; X-ray diffraction; kristallografi; fasjämvikt; Material technology; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes work using hard X-ray radiation on nanosecond and picosecond timescales. The focus is on the experimental part including detailed descriptions of setups for laser pumped - X-ray probe experiments. X-ray diffraction is sensitive to structural properties on the length scale of chemical bonds. READ MORE

  4. 19. Structure Modeling with X-ray Absorption and Reverse Monte Carlo: Applications to Water

    Author : Mikael Leetmaa; Lars G M Pettersson; John Rehr; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water structure; x-ray absorption; spectroscopy; diffraction; reverse monte carlo; XAS; EXAFS; XANES; RMC; TP-DFT spectrum calculations; Physics; Fysik; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Water is an important substance. It is part of us, of our environment, and is a fundamental prerequisite for the existence of life as we know it. The structure of water is still, after over 100 years of research on the subject, however under debate. READ MORE

  5. 20. On Surface Characteristics and Microstructural Development of Soft Magnetic Composite Powder and Components

    Author : Christos Oikonomou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; compaction; annealing; X-ray diffraction; soft magnetic composites; high resolution scanning electron microscopy; surface layers; magnetic testing; powder metallurgy; depth profiling; electron backscatter diffraction; focused ion beam; thickness determination; energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy; microstructure;

    Abstract : Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) products manufactured by traditional Powder Metallurgical (PM) techniques, are strong candidate materials for electromagnetic applications. Their advantages are based on cost and energy efficient production methods, shape complexity realization and uniquely uniform and isotropic three dimensional (3D) magnetic properties. READ MORE
