  1. 1. Soft X-rays and secondary electrons : Velocity measurements on the electron emission produced by soft X-rays and by electron impact

    Author : Erik Rudberg; Stockholms högskola; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 2. Very thin magnets : X-rays, lasers and spectroscopy

    Author : Jonathan Hunter Dunn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The magnetic properties of transition metal films are investigated using synchrotron based x-ray absorption and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. These techniques are elementally selective and may therefore be used, either to probe a specific element in a multicomponent system or, as very sensitive magnetometers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cellular responses to combined irradiation with alpha particles and X-rays

    Author : Alice Sollazzo; Andrzej Wojcik; Alexandros Georgakilas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Radiation; DNA damage; mutations; alpha particles; X-rays; mixed beam; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Mixed radiation fields, where different ionizing particles act together, are very important in radiobiology and in radiation protection. Mixed beams are not only the most common form of radiation exposure, but the prediction of their biological effect is also full of uncertainties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extreme Electron Beams and Brilliant X-rays : Generation, Manipulation and Characterization of Relativistic Electron Beams for and from Plasma-Based Accelerators

    Author : Jonas Björklund Svensson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser; plasma; wakefield; acceleration; accelerator; relativistic; electrons; x-rays; ultra-fast; betatron; laser-wakefield acceleration; plasma-wakefield acceleration;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on work done by the author on the development of plasma-based electron accelerators driven by ultra-intense laser pulses and dense electron bunches. Plasma based accelerators have several benefits, such as accelerating fields around 1000 times stronger than in “conventional” radio-frequency accelerators, which can allow for shrinking the overall footprint of the accelerator.
