  1. 1. Structural and Electrochemical Relations in Electrode Materials for Rechargeable Batteries

    Author : Viktor Renman; Kristina Edström; Mario Valvo; Cesar Pay Gómez; Mats Johnsson; Helmer Fjellvåg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; batteries; electrochemical energy storage; oxohalides; conversion; alloy; pyrosilicate; CuHCF; MnHCM; XRD; XANES; in operando; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Rechargeable batteries have already conquered the market of portable electronics (i.e., mobile phones and laptops) and are set to further enable the large-scale deployment of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles in a not too distant future. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structural Changes in Lithium Battery Materials Induced by Aging or Usage

    Author : Rickard Eriksson; Kristina Edström; Torbjörn Gustafsson; Leif Nyholm; Marca Doeff; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Li-ion batteries; XRD; EXAFS; HAXPES; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Li-ion batteries have a huge potential for use in electrification of the transportation sector. The major challenge to be met is the limited energy storage capacity of the battery pack: both the amount of energy which can be stored within the space available in the vehicle (defining its range), and the aging of the individual battery cells (determining how long a whole pack can deliver sufficient energy and power to drive the vehicle). 3. 3. Studies of inorganic crystal structures and gas adsorption process in mesoporous crystals : New approach through analysis of electron charge distribution by synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction

    Author : Norihiro Muroyama; Osamu Terasaki; Clément Sanchez; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : XRD; Mesoporous; Gas adsorption; Laves Phase; MEM; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : Using synchrotron powder XRD experiments, I studied (i) structures of silica mesoporous MCM-41 and MCM-48 crystals, (ii) gas adsorption processes of Ar and N2 in the mesopores of the mesoporous crystals, and (iii) bonding features of CaAl2-xZnx crystals through the analysis of electron charge density distributions. In the case of mesoporous crystals, the following two different approaches were taken depending on the number of observed X-ray reflections1. READ MORE

  4. 4. New Fullerene Materials Obtained in Solution and by High Pressure High Temperature Treatment

    Author : Alexandr Talyzin; B. Sundqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; fullerene; solution; high pressure; Raman spectroscopy; polymerisation; XRD; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Crystallization of C60 and C70 from organic solution often leads to the formation of new solvates and other fullerene compounds. In the present thesis, a number of such solvates were obtained and their phase transitions studied using in situ "in solution" techniques. READ MORE

  5. 5. Reconstruction of Holocene atmospheric mineral dust deposition from raised peat bogs in south–central Sweden

    Author : Jenny Sjöström; Malin Kylander; Jonatan Klaminder; Martina Hättestrand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mineral dust; paleodust; peat; Sweden; Holocene; mineralogy; XRD;

    Abstract : Atmospheric mineral dust plays a dynamic role in the climate system acting both as a forcing and a feedback mechanism. To date, the majority of paleodust studies have been conducted on marine sediments or polar ice cores, while terrestrial deposition has been less studied. READ MORE
