21. Structure and Properties Investigations of the La2Co1+z(Ti1-xMgx)1-zO6 Perovskite System
Abstract : Perovskite based materials have great potentials for various energy applications and the search for new materials for uses in SOFCs has largely been concentrated to this class of compounds. In this search, we have studied perovskite phases in the system La2Co1+z(Ti1-xMgx)1-zO6, with 0 x 0.9 and z = 0.0, 0. READ MORE

22. Modelling the system Cr-Fe-Ni-Te via the CALPHAD method, DFT and experiments : for fast nuclear reactor applications
Abstract : In the pursuit of safer, more environmentally friendly and sustainable forms of energy production for our ever growing demands, a type of nuclear reactor cooled by liquid metal instead of water is under development. Specific to this type of reactor are special forms of corrosion of the material that encapsulates the fuel pins in the reactor core, called Fuel-Clad Chemical Interaction (FCCI) or Fission Product-induced Liquid Metal Embrittlement (FPLME). 23. Strontium Titanate-based Anodes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Abstract : The purpose for this work has been to develop new robust fuel electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). The aim was to find suitable ceramic materials or composites with promising properties for the use as SOFC anodes. READ MORE

24. Reactions on nanostructured and microporous surfaces
Abstract : Interactions between surfaces and molecules play a central role in various fields where catalysis is one example. In order to understand different surface processes, physicochemical characterisation of the surface materials and molecules is required. READ MORE

25. Epitaxial growth, structure, and thermoelectric properties of CaMn- and V-based oxides
Abstract : This thesis is focused on physical vapor deposition, epitaxy, and structural characterization of CaMnO3 and VO2. Environmentally friendly and abundant materials are important for energy savings in applications, e.g., thermoelectrics for waste-heat recycling and thermochromic materials for passive indoor-temperature regulation.
