1. Properties in New Complex Perovskite-Related Materials, a Matter of Composition and Structure
Abstract : This PhD thesis presents investigations of perovskite-related compounds in systems of interest for applications in components in solid oxide fuel cells. The compound compositions derive from substitutions in the parent compounds LaCoO3, LaCrO3 and SrFeO3. READ MORE

2. Hydrogen incorporation in Zintl phases and transition metal oxides- new environments for the lightest element in solid state chemistry
Abstract : This PhD thesis presents investigations of hydrogen incorporation in Zintl phases and transition metal oxides. Hydrogenous Zintl phases can serve as important model systems for fundamental studies of hydrogen-metal interactions, while at the same time hydrogen-induced chemical structure and physical property changes provide exciting prospects for materials science. 3. Unraveling the structures of complex nanocrystalline materials by combining TEM and XRPD – development and application
Abstract : Knowledge of the three-dimensional (3D) atomic structure of materials is essential to a fundamental understanding of their properties. The key to understanding the functionality of many materials, particularly those of commercial and industrial interest, is often hidden in the details at the nanoscale. READ MORE

4. Transition Metal Hydride Complexes and Hydrogenated Gallium Clusters : Synthesis and Structural Properties
Abstract : Synthesis and structural characterisation of metal hydrides in two important systems are presented. The first system presented is low valent cobalt and nickel complex hydrides with the compositions BaMg5Co2H10, RbMg5CoNiH10, SrMg2CoH7and Sr4Mg4Co3H19 featuring nickel with oxidation state of 0 and cobalt with oxidation state +I and -I. 5. Colloidal Synthesis and Characterisation of (a) Na0.5K0.5NbO3 Thin Films; and (b) Functionalised Gd2O3 Nanocrystals
Abstract : (a) Thin films of the perovskite structured Na0.5K0.5NbO3 (NKN) have been synthesised with several different sol-gel methods. Only one method gave pure NKN phase while the other methods gave extra peaks in the x-ray diffraction patterns, indicating that other, unidentified, phases were present. READ MORE
