  1. 1. Fragmentation in Proton-Nucleus Reactions from 100 to 1400 MeV

    Author : Henrik Jäderström; Lars Wesretberg; Yuri Murin; Kjell Aleklett; Haik Simon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Nuclear physics; proton; deuteron; 20Ne; 28Si; Xe; nuclear reactions; inverse kinematics; recoils; intermediate mass fragments; angular distribution; DCM model; JQMD model; CFEM model; single event upset; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The heaviest fragments, recoils, have been studied in proton and deuteron induced 28Si reactions and proton-20Ne reactions at 100-300 MeV per nucleon. Inclusive charge and angular distributions and coincidences between He nuclei and recoils have been compared to two theoretical models, Dubna Cascade Model and JAERI Quantum Molecular Dynamics. Abstract : Clusters are finite ensembles of atoms or molecules with sizes in the nanometer regime (i.e. nanoparticles). This thesis present results on the geometric and electronic structure of homogeneous and heterogeneous combinations of atoms and molecules. READ MORE

  3. 3. Rare-gas Clusters Studied by Electron Spectroscopy : Structure of Heterogeneous Clusters and Effects of Electron Scattering on Auger Decay

    Author : Marcus Lundwall; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Thomas Möller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Nano-particles; Clusters; Heterogeneous clusters; Core-shell clusters; XPS; UPS; AES; Electron scattering; Radial structure; Surface structure; Surface sensitivity; Synchrotron radiation; Ne; Ar; Kr; Xe; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this Thesis experimental studies of nano-clusters using synchrotron radiation based photoelectron (UPS and XPS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) are presented. The investigations may be divided into two parts where the first reports on the structure of heterogeneous two component clusters, and the second concerns electronic decay processes. READ MORE

  4. 4. VUV Emission and Energy Transfer Phenomena in Rare Gas Mixture Discharges

    Author : Andrei Morozov; Andreas Ulrich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; VUV spectra; excimers; energy transfer; rare gas discharges; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : VUV emission spectra of Xe-X (X = He, Ne, Ar and Kr) and of Kr-Y (Y = He, Ne and Ar) mixtures with low concentrations of the heavier gases (0.1 - 1 %) and moderate total pressures (50 - 200 hPa) are recorded near each of the two resonance lines of Xe and Kr in DC glow capillary discharges. 5. 5. Studies of ionised atoms with collision-based spectroscopy and laser spectroscopy

    Author : Mingqi Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Atomic structure and collision properties of ionised atoms have been studied usingcollision-based spectroscopy and fast ion beam-laser spectroscopy.Collision induced photon emission spectra of Xe VI, Xe VII and Xe VIII andthe potassium like metal ions Mn VII, Fe VIII and Co IX have been recorded with a beam of multiply charged ions from an ECR (electron cyclotron resonance) ion source passing through an atomic target.
