  1. 1. Expression of ras and p53, DNA ploidy and 5-phase fraction in human colorectal adenocarcinoma

    Author : Xiao-Feng Sun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The accumulation of oncogene and anti-oncogene alterations play an important role in the development of colorectal adenocarcinomas. These specific gene alterations cause changes of DNA ploidy and cell proliferation and, in turn, DNA instability might lead to more genetic changes. READ MORE

  2. 2. The CpG island methylator phenotype in colorectal cancer : studies on risk and prognosis

    Author : Anna Dahlin; Richard Palmqvist; Bethany van Guelpen; Maria Henriksson; Åke Öberg; Xiao-Feng Sun; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; DNA methylation; folate; microsatellite instability MSI ; prognosis; risk factors; t-lymphocytes; the CpG island methylator phenotype CIMP ; Vitamin B12; Pathology; Patologi; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common malignancy in developed countries. The mortality is high, with nearly half of patients dying from the disease. The primary treatment of CRC is surgery, and decisions about additional treatment with chemotherapy are based mainly on tumor stage. READ MORE

  4. 4. Keratinocytes in tissue engineering of human skin: invitro and in vivo studies

    Author : Camilla Fredriksson; Gunnar Kratz; Fredrik Huss; Xiao-Feng Sun; Bengt Gerdin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Keratinocytes tissue engineering; Plastic surgery; Plastikkirurgi;

    Abstract : Full thickness wounds, such as deep burns, need restoration of both the dermal and epidermal layers of the skin. In normal wound healing, re-epithelialization occurs by migration and proliferation of keratinocytes from the wound edges and by differentiation of stem cells from remaining hair follicles. 5. 5. Molecular and Biological Characteristics of Stroma and Tumor Cells in Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Jingfang Gao; Xiao-Feng Sun; Richard Palmqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carcinogenesis; genetic alterations; colorectal cancer CRC ; cysteine-histidine rich protein PINCH ; Inflammatory infiltration; Angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Carcinogenesis is a progressive process involving multiple genetic alterations in tumor cells and complex interactions in the tumor-host microenvironment. To better understand the contribution of molecular alterations in tumor cells and stromal variables to the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and identify prognostic factors, in this study we examined the clinicopathological and biological significance of stromal variables, including particularly interesting new cysteine-histidine rich protein (PINCH), inflammatory infiltration, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as hRAD50/hMRE11/hNBS1 proteins and hRAD50 mutation in tumor cell in CRC.
