  1. 1. Antitumor Activities of 2-Methoxyestradiol on Cervical and Endometrial Cancers In Vitro and In Vivo

    Author : Li Li; Xin Fu; Mats Brännström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; 2-Methoxyestradiol; HeLaS3 cells; HEC-1-A cells; RL-95-2 cells; cervical cancer; endometrial cancer; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar;

    Abstract : 2-Methoxyestradiol (2-ME), a metabolite of 17β-estradiol, is a potent antitumor and antiangiogenesis agent in vitro and in vivo. This study aimed to investigate the effects of 2-ME on human cervical and endometrial cancers in vitro and in vivo. READ MORE

  2. 2. Applications of Molecular Dynamics in Atmospheric and Solution Chemistry

    Author : Xin Li; Hans Ågren; Ari Laaksonen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the applications of molecular dynamics simulation techniques in the fields of solution chemistry and atmospheric chemistry. The work behind the thesis takes account of the fast development of computer hardware, which has made computationally intensive simulations become more and more popular in disciplines like pharmacy, biology and materials science. 3. 3. Development of robust cyanobacterial strains for biotechnological applications : Stress tolerance and cell-specific expression in heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria

    Author : Xin Li; Karin Stensjö; Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; Dps protein; heterocysts; Nostoc; oxidative stress; cell specific promoter; ROS tolerance; synthetic biology tools transcriptional regulation.; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Synthetic biology tools can be used to exploit potential applications of cyanobacteria, promising photosynthetic hosts for production of fuels and chemicals. Specific genetic tools are needed for the development of robust cyanobacterial strains for bioengineering. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genetic and ageing effects on beef quality

    Author : Xin Li; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate genetic and ageing effects on beef quality. To study the genetic effects, association analyses were carried out between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at DGAT1, LEP, SCD1, CAPN1 and CAST genes with colour, marbling, water holding capacity (WHC) and tenderness in meat from young bulls of the beef cattle population in Sweden. 5. 5. The relation among aging, dopamine-regulating genes, and neurocognition

    Author : Xin Li; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : When people are getting old, they often feel increasingly harder to concentrate, and become slower and more inflexible during tasks that involve focused attention, information maintenance in the face of distractions, and when fast switching according to changing goals is required. These cognitive functions are collectively referred to as working memory (WM). READ MORE
