11. Molecular mechanism of plasmid copy number control in Yersinia
Abstract : The ability of pathogenic bacteria to cause disease depends on various virulence mechanisms. The three pathogenic species of Yersinia use a type III secretion system (T3SS) to translocate effector proteins into host cells and disrupt the immune system. This T3SS is encoded on a 70kb, low-copy, virulence plasmid. READ MORE

12. Timing and targeting of Type III secretion translocation of virulence effectors in Yersinia
Abstract : The Type III secretion system (T3SS) is an important virulence mechanism that allows pathogenic bacteria to translocate virulence effectors directly into the cytoplasm of eukaryotic host cells to manipulate the host cells in favor of the pathogen. Enteropathogenic Yersinia pseudotuberculosis use a T3SS to translocate effectors, Yops, that prevent phagocytosis by immune cells, and is largely dependent on it to establish and sustain an infection in the lymphoid tissues of a mammalian host. 13. Molecular mechanisms of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis for adaptation and establishment of infection in host tissue
Abstract : Bacterial pathogens can evade the host’s immune defence to adapt and establish an infection within the host. Some even slip into a quiescent state to establish themselves without acutely harming the host. Phylogenetically unrelated bacteria can share similar strategies for the establishment of infection and for persistence. READ MORE

14. Yersinia-phagocyte interactions during early infection
Abstract : Pathogenic Gram-negative Yersinia species preferentially target and inactivate phagocytic cells of the innate immune defense by translocation of effector Yersinia outer proteins (Yops) into the cells via a type III secretion system. This indicates that inactivation and avoidance of the early innate immune response is an efficient way for Yersinia species to avoid elimination and to cause diseases ranging from mild gastroenteritis (Y. 15. Enteropathogenic Yersinia spp. and Salmonella spp. in Swedish wild boars : the presence and molecular epidemiology
Abstract : Wild boars are reported as carriers of several zoonotic agents. The aims of this thesis was to investigate the presence of the foodborne enteropathogens Salmonella spp., Yersinia (Y.) spp. READ MORE
