16. Adverse life events, psychiatric morbidity, and mortality : epidemiological studies of socioeconomic inequalities from a life course perspective
Abstract : The overall aim with this dissertation was to increase the knowledge on the association between adverse life events, and psychiatric morbidity and mortality, and the role of socioeconomic position from a life course perspective. In Study I we examined the association between socioeconomic position, adverse childhood experiences, and psychotropic medication in young adulthood, using parental educational level as measure of socioeconomic position. 17. Essays on Inequality and Social Policy : Education, Crime and Health
Abstract : This thesis consists of four empirical essays. The first essay evaluates the impact on crime of a large scale experimental scheme in which all state monopoly alcohol stores in selected Swedish counties kept open on Saturdays. 18. Short- and Long-Term Influences of Education, Health Indicators, and Crime on Labor Market Outcomes : Five Essays in Empirical Labor Economics
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to improve the understanding of how several individual characteristics, namely education (years of schooling), health indicators (height, weight, smoking, alcohol consumption, and exercise), criminal behavior, and crime victimization, influence labor market outcomes in the short and long run. The first part of the thesis consists of three studies in which I adopt a within-twin-pair difference approach to analyze how education, health indicators, and earnings are associated with each other over the life cycle.
