1. ZnO Quantum Dots : Size Dependent Optical, Vibrational and Photoelectrochemical Properties
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to quantum dots of ZnO in the size regime 2.5-10 nm.The focus is directed towards their size dependent properties with specialemphasis on the optical, vibrational and photocatalytic properties. The particleswere synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solution. READ MORE

2. Growth and Characterization of ZnO Nanocrystals
Abstract : The understanding of surfaces of materials is of crucial importance to all of us. Considering nanocrystals (NCs), that have a large surface to bulk ratio, the surfaces become even more important. Therefore, it is important to understand the fundamental surface properties in order to use NCs efficiently in applications. READ MORE

3. Functional Metal Oxide Materials Deposited by Inkjet Printing Technique
Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetism in 85 to 100nm thin films produced by in situ deposition of industrially important pristine MgO and ZnO by inkjet printing. It is suggested that the observed long range magnetic order, the so-called do magnetism in these oxides arises from cation vacancies. READ MORE

4. Lighting and Sensing Applications of Nanostructured ZnO, CuO and Their Composites
Abstract : Low dimensional nanostructures of zinc oxide (ZnO), cupric oxide (CuO), and their composite nanostructures possess remarkable physical and chemical properties. Fundamental understanding and manipulation of these unique properties are crucial for all potential applications. READ MORE

5. Surface and Interface Studies of ZnO using Reactive Dynamics Simulation
Abstract : About 90% of all chemicals are produced with the help of catalysts, substances with the ability to accelerate reactions without being consumed. Metal oxides play a prominent role in catalysis, since they are able to act reversibly in many chemical processes. Zink oxide (ZnO) is used to catalyse a number of industrially important reactions.
