  1. 1. Biomimetic Iron Complexes involved in Oxygenation and Chlorination : A Theoretical Study

    Author : Holger Noack; Margareta R. A. Blomberg; Per E. M. Siegbahn; Martin Kaupp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomimetic; iron; density functional theory; intradiol; chlorination; adpic acid; diamond core; reactivity; Bio-inorganic chemistry; Bio-oorganisk kemi; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Biomimetic chemistry is directed towards the simulation of enzymatic reactivity with synthetic analogues. In this thesis a quantum chemical method has been employed to study the mechanism of highly reactive iron-oxo complexes involved in oxygenation and chlorination of organic substrates. READ MORE

  2. 2. Instability in Settling Fibres : A Numerical Study

    Author : Feng Zhang; Anders A. Dahlkild; Fredrik Lundell; Mark Martinez; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bre suspensions; sedimentation; instability; mixture model; point-particle mode;

    Abstract : Sedimenting suspensions exist in a varity of natural phenomena and industrial applications. It is already observed in experiments that the dilute fibre suspensions experience a concentration instability under gravity at low Reynolds numbers. Initially well-mixed suspensions become inhomogeneous and anisotropic due to this instability. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distance education and the training of primary school teachers in Tanzania

    Author : Michael A. A. Wort; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Education; distance education; teacher education; primary schools; developing countries; Pedagogik; Education; Pedagogik; pedagogik; Education;

    Abstract : Tanzania has been using distance education to train its teachers for twenty years. Thefirst programme, which began in 1976 and ended in 1984, was highly innovative inits approach. It provided both professional and up-grading studies within the primaryschools to try and meet the demand for universal primary education. READ MORE

  4. 4. Monitoring lithospheric motions by Satellite geodesy

    Author : Nureldin A. A. Gido; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Lars E. Sjöberg; Faramarz Nilfouroushan; Hossein Nahavandchi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geodesi; Geodesy;

    Abstract : Understanding of global and local Earth’s dynamic processes is of great importance to the Earth’s system knowledge, human life, and sustainability goals (e.g. climatic change and geo-hazard assessment, etc.). READ MORE

  5. 5. Obstacles to students' learning of the limit concept : A comparative study

    Author : Abraham Kumsa Beyene; Kerstin Pettersson; Iben Christiansen; Juter Kristina; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Obstacles; limit; calculus; case study; comparative study; upper secondary; Mathematics Education; matematikämnets didaktik;

    Abstract : This thesis explores obstacles to students’ learning of the limit of a function as students learn the concept in post-compulsory schools in two culturally different contexts, namely Sweden and Ethiopia. The study investigates obstacles to students’ learning of the intuitive limit concept (the limit concept that is based on the intuitive definition) taught in upper secondary schools of these two contexts and characterises the nature of these obstacles.
