  1. 1. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Author : Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 2. 2. Protein-Based Adhesives for Particleboards

    Author : Sara Khosravi; Mats Johansson; A. A Broekhuis; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main objective of this study was to elucidate the possibilities to use wheat gluten (WG) as a binder for particleboards, as well as soy protein isolate (SPI). The focus was on the effect of the adhesive formulation and the processing conditions, while the press parameters were kept constant. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomimetic Iron Complexes involved in Oxygenation and Chlorination : A Theoretical Study

    Author : Holger Noack; Margareta R. A. Blomberg; Per E. M. Siegbahn; Martin Kaupp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomimetic; iron; density functional theory; intradiol; chlorination; adpic acid; diamond core; reactivity; Bio-inorganic chemistry; Bio-oorganisk kemi; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Biomimetic chemistry is directed towards the simulation of enzymatic reactivity with synthetic analogues. In this thesis a quantum chemical method has been employed to study the mechanism of highly reactive iron-oxo complexes involved in oxygenation and chlorination of organic substrates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regioselective Heck Coupling Reactions : Focus on Green Chemistry

    Author : Karl S. A. Vallin; Anders Hallberg; Mats Larhed; Walter Cabri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Medicinal Chemistry; läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Carbon-carbon bond formation reactions are among the most important processes in chemistry, as they represent key steps in the synthesis of more complex molecules from simple precursors. This thesis describes mainly the development of novel regioselective applications of the mild and versatile palladium-catalyzed carbon-carbon coupling method, commonly known as the Heck reaction. 5. 5. Prognostic markers in acute myeloid leukemia : A candidate gene approach

    Author : Ingrid Jakobsen; Kourosh Lotfi; Henrik Gréen; Anna Fyrberg; Christian Thiede; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : The standard treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) consists of induction chemotherapy, most commonly daunorubicin together with the nucleoside analogue cytarabine (Ara-C), followed by consolidation chemotherapy and in selected cases allogenic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Despite a high initial response rate, a considerable proportion of all AML cases eventually suffer from relapse and the five-year overall survival rate in patients >60 years is only around 15%.
