  1. 6. Kissing knees - factors behind the attraction. Knee abduction in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Cronström; Idrottsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : ACL injury; Sensorimotor control; Rehabilitation; Prevention; Movement quality; Postural orientation;

    Abstract : Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and patellofemoral pain (PFP) are common sports-related knee injuries. Their consequences include compromised health of the effected individual and substantial financial costs for society. READ MORE

  2. 7. Breathing and phonation : effects of lung volume and breathing behaviour on voice function

    Author : Jenny Iwarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Abduction; Adduction; Breathing; Flow glottogram; Inhalation; Lung volume; Perceptual analysis; Phonation; Posture; Speech lung volume; Speech task; Subglottal pressure; Tracheal pull; Vertical laryngeal position; Vocal fold nodules; Voice source;

    Abstract : Respiration is believed to play a central role in voice function and is thus of relevance to the clinical care of the disordered voice. The overall aim of the present study was to experimentally investigate relationships between the respiratory and phonatory systems. READ MORE

  3. 8. Shoulder Kinematics and Impingement. Dynamic Radiostereometric analysis of the shoulder

    Author : Erling Hallström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Shoulder kinematics; Radiostereometry; Impingement; Open surgery; Arthroscopic surgery; Physiotherapy; Clinical outcome;

    Abstract : Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the three-dimensional kinematics of the shoulder joint in patients with shoulder impingement and controls with focus on three well known diagnostic tests; painful arc test (active abduction), Neer sign (passive elevation) and Hawkins sign. The shoulder rhythm, the speed of motion and if successful treatment of impingement could be associated with changes of the shoulder kinematics were studied Dynamic radiostereometry (RSA) is feasible method to study rotations and translations of the gleonohumeral joint because of its high precision. 4. 9. Completing the Is-a Structure in Description Logics Ontologies

    Author : Zlatan Dragisic; Patrick Lambrix; Fang Wei-Kleiner; Guilin Qi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Knowledge representation; ontology; ontology engineering; ontology debugging; description logics;

    Abstract : The World Wide Web contains large amounts of data and in most cases this data is without any explicit structure. The lack of structure makes it difficult for automated agents to understand and use such data. READ MORE

  5. 10. Subject-specific musculoskeletal modeling of the lower extremities in persons with unilateral cerebral palsy

    Author : Olesya Klets; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Sven Kleiven; KTH; []
    Keywords : cerebral palsy; moment arm; muscle length; hemiplegic; MRI; subject-specific; musculoskeletal modeling; lower extremities; muscle volume; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik;

    Abstract : The computational musculoskeletal models that are used to study muscle moment-generating capacities of persons with movement disorders and planning treatment options must be accurate, and take into account the inter-individual variability of musculoskeletal geometry. In Paper I the methods of creating the subject-specific musculoskeletal model of the lower extremities from magnetic resonance images (MRIs) were developed. READ MORE
