1. Prevalence of refractive errors and incidence of myopia in Swedish schoolchildren
Abstract : PurposeThe aim of this thesis was to investigate the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors for myopia development in a cohort of Swedish schoolchildren. The specific goals were: - to recruit a cohort of children aged 8 to 16 years and to follow the cohort over a period of 24 months with regular study visits; - to investigate the predictive value of relative peripheral error and other optical parameters for the prevalence and incidence of myopia; - to determine and investigate the predictive value of genetic and environmental factors, and structural characteristics of the eye to the incidence of myopia. 2. Improving Peripheral Vision Through Optical Correction and Stimulus Motion
Abstract : The loss of central vision subsequent to macular disease is often extremely debilitating. People with central field loss (CFL) must use other peripheral areas of the retina in order to see; areas with inferior resolution capacity, which are also affected by off-axis optical errors. 3. Optimal Use of Peripheral Vision
Abstract : People who lose their central vision have to rely on their peripheral vision for all visual tasks. The ability to resolve fine details in the periphery is reduced due to retinal limitations and the optical aberrations arising from the use of off-axis vision. READ MORE

4. Manipulation of Ocular Aberrations in Myopes
Abstract : Myopia is a major cause of vision loss throughout the world. High myopia is associated with severe eye diseases like maculopathy, retinal detachment and glaucoma. The prevalence of myopia is increasing, and varies by country and by ethnic group. In some Asian populations the prevalence is 70%-80%. READ MORE

5. Ocular aberrations and visual quality in aspherical and multifocal contact lenses
Abstract : Good visual quality and precise accommodation are required to be able to focus objects at distance and near, and are essential in order to be able to perform most tasks in life. Most eyes are not ideal eyes, i.e., they have different refractive errors which distort the produced image. READ MORE
