2. Atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys – characterization and mechanisms
Abstract : The atmospheric corrosion of Mg and MgAl alloys was investigated. Corrosion tests were performed in the laboratory under controlled environment. CP Mg, AM50 and AZ91 samples were exposed at 95% RH and 22°C in the presence and in the absence of 400 ppm CO2 for 24 h to 672 h. The passive film was characterized by means of XPS, FTIR, AES and XRD. READ MORE

3. Cultural Techniques of Presence : Luis de Góngora and Early Modern Media
Abstract : This dissertation investigates the materiality of Early Modern Spanish poetry and particularly that of Luis de Góngora (1561-1627). Its purpose is to focus on physical and concrete aspects in order to create new knowledge of the past. READ MORE

4. Radiation Oncology Data and Modelling Side Effects after Radiation Therapy
Abstract : Although modern radiation therapy techniques have the ability to conform the dose distribution of ionizing radiation tightly around the volume to be treated, unwanted irradiation to surrounding organs remains a problem. The probability of a side effect arising in the normal tissue of a patient after radiation therapy can be modelled by sigmoid mathematical functions known as normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models. 5. Twist-Symmetric Periodic Structures : Properties and Applications
Abstract : In this thesis, periodic structures with higher symmetries symmetries are discussed. The main focus of the thesis is on twist symmetries. Importantly, the attractive properties of twist symmetries for the control of electromagnetic wave propagation are demonstrated. READ MORE
