  1. 1. The Fate of Electronically Excited States : Ultrafast Electron and Energy Transfer in Solvated Donor-Acceptor Systems

    Author : Staffan Wallin; Leif Hammarström; Jan Davidsson; Eric Vauthey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Electron transfer; Energy transfer; Anisotropy; Porphyrin; Ruthenium tris-bipyridine; Superexchange; Supramolecular; Donor-Acceptor; Charge transfer state; S2 state; Ultrafast; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Processes where a molecule absorbs visible light and then disposes of the excess energy via electron/energy transfer reactions have an important role both in nature (e.g. in photosynthesis) and in many technical applications (e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. Energy and Electron Transfer in Porphyrin-Based Donor--Bridge--Acceptor Systems

    Author : Kristine Kilså; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron transfer; electronic coupling; donor--bridge--acceptor systems; quantum mechanical calculations; enhanced intersystem crossing; ligand and solvent effects; bridge mediation; energy transfer; porphyrin;

    Abstract : The photophysical properties of supramolecular donor--bridge--acceptor systems have been investigated by spectroscopic and quantum mechanical methods. The systems consist of porphyrin donor and acceptor moieties linked by bridging chromophores of varying excitation energy, and are shown to be geometrically well-defined in terms of length and rotational conformation. 4. 4. Norbornadienes for molecular solar thermal energy storage

    Author : Maria Quant; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; energy storage; solar energy; norbornadiene - quadricyclane photo switches; synthesis of norbornadienes.;

    Abstract : Over the last decade, there has been great scientific progress in terms of harvesting solar energy but the area of storing energy is still facing challenges. One approach to store solar energy is via photoinduced isomerization of chemical bonds, referred to as molecular solar thermal energy storage (MOST). READ MORE

  5. 5. Mononuclear Ruthenium Complexes that Catalyze Water to Dioxgen Oxidation

    Author : Lianpeng Tong; Licheng Sun; Randolph Thummel; KTH; []

    Abstract : The theme of this thesis is the development of mononuclear Ru-based complexes that are capable of catalyzing the water oxidation (or O2-evolving) reaction, e.g. 2 H2O → O2 + 4 H+ + 4 e−. Several families of mononuclear Ru water oxidation catalysts were designed and prepared. READ MORE
