  1. 1. Single-photon multiple ionisation of atoms and molecules investigated by coincidence spectroscopy : Site-specific effects in acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide

    Author : Sergey Zagorodskikh; Raimund Feifel; Vitali Zhaunerchyk; Melanie Mucke; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Tom Field; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acetaldehyde; carbon dioxide; xenon; electron correlation; double ionisation; triple ionisation; core-valence ionisation; site-specific Auger decay; multiple Auger decay; branching ratios; site-specific photodissociation; molecular rearrangement; time-of-flight multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy; synchrotron radiation; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. READ MORE

  2. 2. Photocatalysis for Indoor Air Cleaning : In situ FTIR and DFT Study of Acetaldehyde Photo-Oxidation on TiO2 and Sulfate-Modified TiO2

    Author : Bozhidar Stefanov; Lars Österlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TiO2; acetaldehyde; crotonaldehyde; dimer; adsorption; DFT; FTIR; photocatalysis; micro-kinetic modeling; acid–base properties; surface functionalization; Solid State Physics; Fasta tillståndets fysik; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Acetaldehyde is among the group of VOC’s causing the so-called "sick building" syndrome. WHO has estimated that this problem, related to the indoor air-quality, affects one third of all buildings worldwide. TiO2 is an attractive material for the photocatalytic removal of VOC’s in the indoor environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ethanol-induced modulation of dopamine transmission and synaptic activity in striatal subregions - focus on inhibitory receptors

    Author : Rhona B. C. Clarke; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dopamine; ethanol; acetaldehyde; striatum; glycine receptor; GABA A receptor;

    Abstract : Background: Alcoholism is a chronic brain disease, affecting neurocircuitries involved in reward and learning. The rewarding effects of alcohol (ethanol) are believed to result from increased dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens (nAc) via the mesolimbic system. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thin films for indoor air monitoring : Measurements of Volatile Organic Compounds

    Author : Umut Cindemir; Niklasson Gunnar; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Lars Österlund; Magnus Willander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gas sensor; thin film; adcanced gas depostion; sputter deposition; nickel oxide; gold nanoparticles; indium tin oxide; acetaldehyde; formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the indoor air have adverse effects on the dwellers residing in a building or a vehicle. One of these effects is called sick building syndrome (SBS). READ MORE
