  1. 1. Human intestinal alkaline phosphatase : tissue expression and serum levels

    Author : Ulla Domar; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human alkaline phosphatase; intestinal alkaline phosphatase; blood; blood group; lipid; monoclonal antibody; immunohistochemistry; liver; kidney; pancreas; liver disease; inflammatory bowel disease;

    Abstract : Human alkaline phosphatase (ALP) comprises four isozymes, viz liver/bone/ kidney or tissue unspecific (AP), intestinal (LAP), placental (PLAP) and germ cell or PLAP-like alkaline phosphatase, with their main expression in specific tissues as indicated by their names. The isozymes are coded by different genes, but they are closely related, with more than 50% amino acid sequence homologies. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Ecophysiology of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: Phosphatase Activity Associated with Extraradical and Intraradical Mycelium

    Author : Ingrid van Aarle; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ekologi; Ecology; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; mycology; virology; bacteriology; Microbiology; Scutellospora; polyphosphate; phosphorus uptake; phosphorus transfer; phosphatase; pH; mycelium; Glomus; fatty acid; Gigaspora; arbuscular mycorrhiza; ELF;

    Abstract : Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi colonise a wide range of plant species and are especially common in soils with a relatively high pH, where phosphorus availability is a limiting factor for primary production. The aim of this thesis was to study the ecophysiology of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi when exposed to different environments. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies on Phosphohistidine Phosphatase 1 : What? Where? Why?

    Author : Ulla Beckman Sundh; Pia Ek; Örjan Zetterqvist; Jin-ping Li; Christian Hedberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PHPT1; Phosphohistidine phosphatase; PHP; Assay; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Phosphohistidine phosphatase 1 (PHPT1) is a small protein, consisting of 125 amino acids, that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of histidine but does not have any activity towards other phosphorylated amino acids. PHPT1 was identified in 2002, and is so far the only mammalian histidine phosphatase known, but still little is known about its physiological role. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regulation of tartrate-resistant purple acid phosphatase by proteolytic processing in rat

    Author : Jenny Ljusberg-Sjölander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Purple acid phosphatase; enzyme catalysis; proteolytic processing;

    Abstract : Purple acid phosphatase (PAP) is an iron-containing binuclear acid metallohydrolase with a characteristic purple colour, also referred to as tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), uteroferrin or type 5 acid phosphatase. PAP is highly expressed in osteoclasts and has a role in bone resorption. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structural studies of saccharopine reductase and purple acid phosphatase

    Author : Eva Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Lysine is synthesised in two different ways in living organisms, either by the diaminopimelate pathway or the [alpha]-aminoadipate pathway. These routes belong to the aspartate and the glutamate family of amino acid biosynthesis, respectively. READ MORE
