  1. 1. Development and Assessment of Regeneration Methods for Commercial Automotive Three-Way Catalysts

    Author : Henrik Birgersson; Magali Boutonnet; Jim A. Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automotive catalyst; TWC; aging; sintering; Pd Rh; Pt Rh; regeneration; oxy-chlorination; dispersion; acid-leaching; mathematical modeling; reaction kinetics; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 2. 2. Enhanced Catalytic Pyrolysis of Biomass for High-Quality Biofuel Production

    Author : Devy Kartika Ratnasari; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Al-MCM-41; lignocellulose biomass; H-ZSM-5; kinetic study; catalyst regeneration;

    Abstract : The rapid increase in energy demand, the extensive use of fossil fuels, and the urgent need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions have raised concerns in the transportation sector, since transportation has been primarily dependent on fossil fuels. Biofuel from biomass can make significant contributions to overcome the expected depletion of fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from spent Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries from Hybrid Electric Vehicles

    Abstract : Rare earth elements (REE) are a group of elements that are of critical importance in numerous technological applications, including “green technologies” such as wind turbines and hybrid car batteries. When the criticality of applications is considered, problems in supply has brought the option of effective secondary resource utilization into consideration. READ MORE

  4. 4. Recycling of Blast Furnace Sludge within the Integrated Steel Plant : Potential for Complete Recycling and Influence on Operation

    Author : Anton Andersson; Lena Sundqvist Ökvist; Hesham Ahmed; Caisa Samuelsson; Yongxiang Yang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Ore-based steelmaking generates various residues including dust, sludges, scales and slags. Internal and external recycling has allowed for 68-90 % of the dust, sludges and scales to be recycled. However, several residues are landfilled despite containing elements valuable as raw material in the production of steel. READ MORE

  5. 5. Recovery of copper and zinc in ashes from municipal solid waste combustion

    Author : Jinfeng Tang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cyanex 923; MSWI waste; LIX860-I; acidic leaching; waste treatment.; copper; solvent extraction; zinc;

    Abstract : The amount of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash has increased in many parts of the world in recent years. Ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) may be a cumbersome waste to handle since containing significant amounts of leachable hazardous metal species and must be landfilled in special sites at high costs.
