21. Understanding corrosion protection mechanisms of nanocomposite polymer coatings on carbon steel : A combination of in-situ AFM and electrochemical studies
Abstract : Corrosion protection of carbon steel is crucial in today’s world and there is an urgent need to replace the hazardous compounds used with environmentally friendly anticorrosion coatings. In this European collaborative research project, new types of functional composite anticorrosion coatings for steel were developed with properties beyond the state-of-the-art using nanotechnology. 22. 3D printing of polymers onto textiles : An innovative approach to develop functional textiles
Abstract : This thesis aims at characterizing tridimensional (3D) printed polymers onto PET textile materials via fused deposition modeling (FDM) that uses both non-conductive and conductive polymers, optimizing their mechanical and electrical properties through statistical modeling and enhancing them with pre and post-treatments and the development of polymer blends. This research work supports the development of technical textiles through 3D printing that may have functionalities. READ MORE

23. Interactions between polymeric dispersants and colloidal ceramic surfaces
Abstract : Increased use of environmentally acceptable chemicals and reduced energy consumption are two foreseeable demands within the ceramics industry. This will require the replacement of organic solvents and lowering of sintering temperatures. READ MORE

24. 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate: Effects on the immune system in mice
Abstract : The use of acrylic compounds in dentistry has increased. Different derivatives of acrylic acid are used in dental bonding material, in resins and in glass ionomer cements. While there have been only a few reports on adverse reactions in patients, there is substantial evidence of adverse reactions in dental personnel. READ MORE

25. Selective conversion of alcohols to aldehydes over metal oxide catalysts
Abstract : Nowadays, transition metal oxide catalysts are employed to a large extent in many chemical processes for the selective production of chemicals and intermediates. Although metal oxides are mostly known as oxidation catalysts, they can successfully catalyze a wide range of reactions, such as dehydration. READ MORE
