  1. 6. Models for tracking in automotive safety systems

    Author : Fredrik Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; motion models; active safety; vehicle tracking; Automotive; radar detections; preventive safety;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the three main components of a tracking system: motion models, sensor models and implementation architecture. A tracking system utilizes models to extract as much information as possible from a set of sensors, with the purpose of estimating the state of a dynamic system. READ MORE

  2. 7. Steering control for haptic feedback and active safety functions

    Author : Tushar Chugh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; position control; coupled stability; passivity; steering system; uncoupled stability; transparency; active safety; haptic feedback; torque control; state estimation;

    Abstract : Steering feedback is an important element that defines driver–vehicle interaction. It strongly affects driving performance and is primarily dependent on the steering actuator's control strategy. READ MORE

  3. 8. Vehicle Dynamic Opportunities in Electrified Vehicles for Active Safety Interventions

    Author : Adithya Arikere; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rear-end collisions; active safety; vehicle dynamics; obstacle avoidance with oncoming traffic; speed control; electrified drivetrain; torque vectoring; driver assistance systems;

    Abstract : Although the sales of electrified vehicles is growing, studies indicatethat the growth is inadequate to sufficiently reduce CO2 emissions andmitigate global warming. Some form of added incentive is needed to driveelectrified vehicle sales. READ MORE

  4. 9. Towards computational models for road-user interaction: Drivers overtaking pedestrians and cyclists

    Author : Alexander Rasch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active safety; vulnerable road users; cyclist safety; driver models; interaction models; overtaking; Euro NCAP; driver behavior; Pedestrian safety;

    Abstract : Introduction: Crashes resulting from a failed interaction between drivers and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, can lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially after failed overtaking maneuvers on rural roads where designated refuge areas are often absent, and impact speeds high. This thesis contains two studies that shed light on driver interaction with either 1) a pedestrian or 2) a cyclist, and oncoming traffic while overtaking. READ MORE

  5. 10. Vehicle Dynamics Control for Active Safety Functions using Electrified Drivelines

    Author : Adithya Arikere; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; driver assistance systems; intersection accidents; torque vectoring; optimal control; rear- end collisions; speed control; active safety; vehicle dynamics; electrified drivetrain; obstacle avoidance with oncoming traffic;

    Abstract : Studies have shown that even considering pledges and commitments made by various governments and organisations, the growth in electrified vehicle sales is likely to be insufficient to reduce CO2 emissions for mitigating global warming. Some form of added incentive is needed that can help drive electrified vehicle sales in the open market. READ MORE
