  1. 1. The zone concept design of low-voltage installations considering the spread of high frequency harmonics

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Martin Lundmark; [2010]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electric Power Engineering; Elkraftteknik; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The use of electric power has become a backbone of the modern society. Together with the growth in possible applications of electric power, we also see a growth in the number of devices and the interest of using electrical energy as an environmentally-friendly alternative to other sources of energy. 2. 2. Fluid-rock interaction in two seismically active areas : The Tjörnes Fracture Zone, northern Iceland and the Shillong Plateau, northeastern India

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Institutionen för geologi och geokemi

    Author : Lillemor Claesson; Alasdair Skelton; Steven Ingebritsen; [2007]
    Keywords : Tjörnes Fracture Zone; Shillong Plateau; Iceland; India; hydrogeochemical monitoring; earthquakes; geothermal; transition metals; dissolution; basalt; feldspar weathering; source switching; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : Hydrogeochemical monitoring can improve our understanding of fluid-rock interaction, and may detect anomalies that are precursory to- or caused by- earthquakes. In this study, hydrogeochemical monitoring was carried out in two distinct tectonic settings, to study coupling between hydrogeochemical changes and seismic activity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Self-Regulating Active Chilled Beams

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Institutionen för geologi och geokemi

    Author : Peter J Filipsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-regulation; Comfort cooling; High temperature cooling; Active chilled beams;

    Abstract : By designing comfort cooling systems to operate with higher chilled water temperatures, electricity driven chillers may be replaced by natural sources of free cooling. It also enables the possibility of self-regulation which, due to simplicity and robustness, brings cost-savings both during installation and maintenance of the building. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Physical Foundation of the Patterning of Physical Action Verbs : A Study of Chinese Verbs

    University dissertation from Linguistics and Phonetics

    Author : Hong Gao; [2001]
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Languages and literatures of South and South-East Asia; verbal semantics; trajector; semantic representation; pyscholingistics; polysemy; physical reality; physical foundation; physical action verbs; observability; motion; lexicalization patterning; landmark; intentionality; innateness; physical contact; force-dynamics; combinability; conflation; cognitive semantics; active zone; affectability; Chinese; Kinesiska och språk och litteratur från Syd- och Sydostasien; Linguistics; Lingvistik; Grammar; semantics; semiotics; syntax; Grammatik; semantik; semiotik;

    Abstract : This work is a study of verbal semantics with a focus on the discussion and illustration of the role of body parts and the semantic incorporation into verbal roots of the actions that involve various body parts. Following a general discussion of the basic issues of language construction and human body actions with the image schemas of force-dynamics presented in line with the framework of cognitive semantics, it is argued that the event structures of physical action verbs are not arbitrarily constructed but rather the constructions are built through systematic cognitive processes in relation to both human physical reality and concrete reality in the world.
